Speed up Firefox's Start Time

I know there are some tricks to speed up the page load times in Firefox. But, is there anyway to speed up the time it takes to load FireFox in general? Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks! :cool:

Not that I know of, but is it really that slow to start up for you? For me the difference in load times between IE and FF is less than a second.

yeh i've noticed the same thing - FF takes ages to start up - especially when resuming pages (tabbrowser extensions)...

Mine takes about the same time as IE on normal occasions but it doesnt make my hard drive make noises like crazy. Its a quiet start up, which I like.

Normally, the more plugins you have, the longer it takes to start up.

you could use the prefetch thing although i dont know if it really works...

Thats the reason.

On my Mac where they have the same conditions (neither IE or Mozilla Firefox is preloaded), Mozilla Firefox beats IE by ~1-2 sec.

will prefetch all programs for you giving you an added boost in startup

i've definitely noticed an improvement in speed by ditching tbe and using the prefetch option. if anyone wants a list of extensions i used to recreate the 'tbe effect' let me know.

well i dont know if this will help but with this extension u can put firefox in the systray so insstead of closin it u can leave it in the systray......but stilli u have to load it sometime for at least one time everytime u boot

And so on, with any program you would like to speed up (Prefetch:2, Prefetch:3, etc)

only problem with that though is that most people launch from the start menuj where the shortcut can be ammended
