i followed all the directions for installing a VS (patching, dwnlding, unzipping, copying over to the theme directory, etc) but i still cant get it to work. I really want this VS, can someone help me?

This made me think "WTF" at first, since your post/idea sort of came out of nowhere, but replacing the Windows start flag with a regular American flag does sound like a neat idea in general. Especially if the standard shape of the Winflag is kept, making the red square into the blue/stars portion, and giving the rest of the squares red and white stripes. Might be hard to fit details into such a small space though.

If grrinder isn't willing to do this, maybe someone else with the serious talent will make their own American flag mod.

Royale is the MCE (media center edition) 2005 visual style (unreleased yet obviously) .

you could take foood's american flag/windows flag icon and make a 32 bit bitmap and replace it in explorer.exe...if you wanted...
