There is much more to this theme than just a simple application, it requires the entire front page script to be redone. As has been stated MANY times before now, we have a lot of other projects the coders are working on that need to be finished before that happens.

So, until your user group is "Administrator" here, keep your comments about the timeing of this deployment to yourself.

Jeezy creezy, I want this theme to be on here as much as anybody, but I'm not complaining! Perhaps it's because I know the difficulties of programming with PHP and MySQL... It ain't easy. So just be patient. As you can already see, it'll be well worth the wait.

From a design perspectve, the colour in the Neowin logo and the darker blue do not complement each other very well.

The shiny gradient at the top could be accomlished better, while I also find the Neowin logo to be too big/bulky at the top. Perhaps if the inside circular "N" were left rather than the whole rectangle, it would help slim down and balance out the other side. At least recolour it and make it shinier/update it.

Today was the first time I looked at WinBeta, but their top navigation is nice and bright, slim, sleek, with items optimally arranged. It's also minimalistic, which I like.

As a concept piece, I think you are headed in the right direction. The good thing about XHTML/CSS code is that your can rework and reuse your code with minimal amount of effort.

Cheers!

*edit* - take it all with a grain of salt. this is just one designer's opinion! :D

Don't be obnoxious. That's your opinion, not a fact. Just because it's your opinion doesn't make it the right opinion. I'm not saying that that my opinion (the fact that the Neowin theme looks better than Winbeta's) is the right one, because on an issue such as this, there are NO right opinions. Just different opinions.

Nice points, most of which I agree with.

I believe they plan to change the logo for this theme (correct me if I am wrong); Toxikk was simply putting that there so we knew where it would go. But as I said, I could be wrong.

I do like this design over Winbeta's in all aspects, but then again, I may just be biased :p I have too much loyalty to this site ;)

That is a mere opinion. :)

Ya think?

That is a mere opinion. :)

And based on which facts are you able to make that statement?

Lets see, this thread was started long ago and theres never been an answer that explains in clear terms if/when it will ever be completed. You all are just giving the runaround and some rude posts (not you, but others) saying how we should be quiet because were not in the "admins" group.

Yep, unprofessionalism looks better. :)

    • Yes for me, I installed 'old calculator' (Windows 7 calculator) in its place since it is more useful to me. I think paint is the only one I left installed
