fastest booting OS needed

whats the fastest booting OS out there? im setting up my P3 667 256MB, 25GB, some passive 4MB AGP as a music thing in the basement, and i need an OS that would load in less then 15 seconds. linux windows anything that cam play MP3 MP3 pro and WMA (winamp really)

You can also try this OS: http://www.menuetos.org/. It fits on a floppy. And although you were talking about it for playing MP3 and this should, but also it seems some people were also mentioning servers.

It runs as a Shoutcast server natively.

get linux without a GUI and get it to load a commandline mp3 player at boot. that should boot really fast. make sure you disable everything from booting except for sound and video drivers. dont put mouse drivers , usb drivers, network and all that seless crap.

doesn't *nix do a hardware detection every boot up? That wouldn't be too fast, no matter what.

Depends on distrobution and/or configuration.
