pantz, no need to link to that site. Those who have been Neowin regulars for a while know why the word filter converts that site's name into << spam >>. Much of the information on that site can be obtained on other sites.

For example, Microsoft's KB article about Office 2003 SP1 actually explains what all the MSP files in the Admin version of SP1 are: Description of files in Admin Service Pack 1 for Office 2003

has anyone tried to run x:\setup.exe. /a to extract their office 2003 cd in an effort to make a slipstream? before anyone screams warez its legit (i can produce a pic of a current date newspaper and my cd to prove it for non-believers). anyway i get the message

creation of administrative installation images is supported only in enterprise versions of ms office 2003

i am running office 2003 professional but is this legit? i can't slipstream sp1 into office at all? any ideas? anyone?

If I understand correctly, and it appears that your error message proves it, only Office 2003 Professional Enterprise Edition (the one that includes InfoPath) supports Administrative installation points and therefore slipstreaming. This may be a bummer for those using other versions though.

@Toxikk & Large: the funny thing is that every time I installed updates or services pack, I ran into problems

thats long time ago with office 97 and 2000 too.

I've never had any problem/virus/trojan etc with windows xp b2600 and sp1 DOES slow machines

however, I might try office 2003 sp1 when I will be near a format

yeah it definitely proves it :(. and they wonder y people get vlk's and the such and install them instead of using their legal copy. :ninja:

Yeah but things have improved a tad since Office 97 !

I've installed Office 2003 SP1 with no problems and I have also installed Win XP SP2 RC2 with no problems, I'm not sure why SP1 slowed down your machine because it has nevered slowed down any of my machines.

I have noticed no drop in performance with SP2 RC2 installed either, my test machine runs fine with SP2 RC2, no slow down what so ever !

    • Absolutely NOBODY has suggested such a conclusion. I am affirming the sober reality check that AV2's overall market adoption will take longer than AV1's adoption rate -- which, by the way, is the whole point of the article! While PCI-SIG is productive (on paper), other WGs have created all sorts of confusing progress plans that consumers have tuned-out of their improvements... HTML/W3C, USB, HDMI, BT, WIFI (ieee802.11) as a few other groups where spec naming conventions, split progress paths, overlapping ambitions... I'm not critiquing the AV specs group; I'm simply affirming that adoption for AV2 faces headwinds beyond the macroeconomics of it all.
