Doom III is out there! W00T!

Wait wait wait.you can't compare HALO 2 with such great classics like PONG, PAC-MAN & ARKANOID no way man. They had by far better graphic engines than HALO 2.Have you seen the lighing effects in PAC-MAN , dude.Halo 2 woun't come close to it, impossible  .An overclocked ATI Radeon x800 256 MB (256-bit) can barely run PAC-MAN on 640x480 - 16bit.

   :p :p :p

lol... Look at challenge factor in games... compare Doom III's challenge factor with a great hit like CONTRA (capitalized for effect) Contra was genuinely hard, no armor no life bar.... it was do or die... lol games like Doom III might look like real life now, but the challenge factor in vintage games is long gone... Ninja Gaiden for the Box went back to the days of yore and offered a genuine challenge... hey anyone remember holographic wiley from Mega Man 2? now THERE was a solid challenge.

but when a game is so hard (one that has a developing story line) it is no fun to play parts over and over- thats where the challenge factor is no longer useful, and where the gamer drops the controller because they don't want to play it over and over.

Or they can just make a more fun game.

Is this true?[/b]>

Is it true, that you need a 512MB GFX card to run the game on Ultra High details?

So i'd have to wait for a 512 card to play on 1024x768 no AA nor AF on Ultra high?>

It's true. The game is built to detect 512mb cars. But i should imagine you can play everything ultrahigh now if you have a high end comp.

P4 3.2 GHz

1GB DDR500 ( Running DDR400 )

GFX: Check sig ....

I hope i can play on ultra high, or i'll haxxor the game

Anyone running it on an Athlon 1.2 ghz / 512 mb RAM / Radeon 9000 Pro (128mb), or similar???

How does it run?

Sons' runnin' it on his box.......athlon 2.2 ati radeon 9100-128 mb 512 ram.....choppy even at low detail....unless he shuts everything down.......then theres still lag...but haven't tried droppin the advanced settings yet.

meh... i'll start off in 800x600 low detail then :p

ah well I'm not expecting anything more then a slideshow anyways.

I'm sitting on a 1.8ghz athlon,

GeForce 4:4600

768 Megs of ram.

i think i'll be fine.

not sure if i'll be able to try it at Ultra Detail though.

back on topic, I'm currently playing through Halo on the PC and its impressive, if a little repetative.

Doom3 like that?

and lets try and do without the spoilers about Doom3 from now on...

Jesus, my friend went and bought it at my local Best Buy earlier today when I told him it was there. He actually picked me up and brought me to his place so I could see the game.

Absolutely fricken incredible. I can just imagine me playing it in the dark on my headset whilst the thunderstorms are knocking away with the lightning blasting!

sorry donuts it will not run in ultra high, your comp is a bit slower then mine and i can tell you for sure ULTRA HIGH IS ULTRA LAGY. 1600x1200 is great though.

    • I'm not sure about that, but it at least "does" a version of 7.1 that this brand new card doesn't....

    • I can barely recall getting web results from a file search... I must've turned it off long ago. 26H2 is Insider's Preview build 26300.8697, which I am running, atm. It is not available for people running the standard commercial builds of Windows--only for the beta test Insider's group. But anyway, as mentioned in the thread, this feature has been around for a long time...
    • Speak for yourself. I saw it on Feedly, came here to read it, and did read it until the steps to activate. I skipped them to read the last paragraph. I knew it was probably not "the most requested feature", but knowing Neowin, I knew the article was going to talk about a feature nonetheless. I've seen Neowin in its best and worst.
