Doom III is out there! W00T!

Is it just me or is anyone else here to scared to keep going? It's dark were i live. It's quiet in my room. Sorround Sound is on and I'm trying to play this with my 19' monitor. im scared

After beating all three Silent Hill games, and all of the Resident Evil games, ive been desensitized. Ive even played a good amount of SS2, so Doom 3 doesn't really phase me. It's more of an awesome looking action game to me.

Damn, nice screens. Your system in your sig is very much like mine. what settings were you running game at? Resolution and Video Quality?

It looks like either 800x600 or 1024x760 for resolution, and im guessing either medium or high for detail level, and maybe some anti-aliasing. Im impressed, considering his system.

that party is hardly scarey. scooby doo and shaggy wouldnt even be afraid of that. the worst part is when the zombie falls from the overhang on the cieling and he drops in front of ur face. so yes, that was actually heart pounding. you must blast him, preferably with the shotgun as his rag body simulates nicely with it. <-best seen

i dont think so, man

i THINK it'll run slow as hell (no pun intended)

lol, slow as hell hu, lol

Well my fresh install of XP took about 5 minuts (Gotta love RAID )

doing windows update now, and i got my C-Media onboard enabled, hopefully getting that audigy 2 out of the system will clear up alot of headache, only problem is now i dont ahve a MP3 encoder (was using the software that came with creative, was actually good, wont work with non-creative cards though, that part sucks, migh tinstall it on my server.lol

Um, are you reinstalling your operating system just for one game?

God, do you people understand the placebo effect? Reinstalling Windows does NOT have a noticable effect on performance unless you're an idiot about your computer. I've been running on the same install of Windows for 3 years accross 2 motherboards, 3 CPUs, 3 video cards, and god knows how many programs. If you know how to keep a registry clean, you don't need to reformat every month...

im reinstalling my OS so ALL my Ogl games wont crash when high qual sound in games are playing, its always been like that, i just choose the option to use low detail sound to bypass it, doom 3 there is no option for that, so instead of uninstalling my Sound Card and having Creatives backend hidden **** wining about not finding bla bla, or detecting bla bla, i jsut reformatted, i had to do it anyway.

and windows does bloat, go digging through your reg, and file structures, youd be suprised how much crap uninstall does not remove.

last time i just uninstalled the audigy2 and all of its software, deleted directorys and Regestry entreies, but there was still errors in even viewer about some creative file havving problems, when i removed each file after the uninstall.

it wasnt done for doom3, it was done for every OpenGL game doing the same thing its doing in Doom3 when i enable high quality sound or EAX

whats wrong with audigy 2? i am getting audigy 2zs tomorow, i hope it wont cause any probs for doomeh ;)

for me it does on any OpenGL game, that has high quality sound or EAX (or predessors) so im sayign screw it and removing it, tired of it locking the comp, it doesnt do it when low qual sound is enabled, thinking its conflicts.

but your system may be diffrent

That's the problem with Windows these days huh?

I will say that IF you understand the inner workings of a registry or installshield you would know how to clean. Windows and Creative type companies alike know most don't and begin to put in redundency and this does in fact "bloat" the OS.

I will be running O&O defrag later tonight and should see an increase in not only gameplay but load times and a faster Windows session.

I have cleard the regestry, but some things keep comming back, or trying to reenable.

and as far as knowing the inner workings of a comp, i do

BTW when did i say i was reformating for performance.

i like i said i was reinstalling To Fully remove Creative's crap to stop teh locks in OpenGL Games. NOT jsut doom3

creative has like the worst drivers out there. it's always a bitch to install them and they give a lot of problems.

    • This one baffles me...so they are creating a museum based around the Ship of Theseus? A museum is supposed to preserve things. It doesn't really work if the conversation goes, "I gazed upon Starry Night the other day, the colours were beautiful!" "Yeah...I didn't expect Godzilla to show up, though." Create a building devoted to displaying AI work, fine. The rainforest idea sounds interesting and I would consider visiting if they pay me a few bucks. But don't call it a museum...
    • >defenders of AI-generated artworks often claim that AI is just a tool It is not. It is the inhuman artist replacement. The human writing the prompt is the employer/manager requesting the work product of the artist -- a supervisory/descriptive job that doesn't carry with it any rights to the copyright of that work product at all. And since AI is not human itself, it can't gain copyright for anything it is asked to regurgitate or hallucinate, so it can't transfer that copyright to the employer/manager/human who asked for the output. This was all legally reaffirmed last year. So, no, while there are AI tools, AI slopware generation is NOT a "tool" in the legal definition of that word.
    • As long as i get to play GTA 6 before it ends 😂😂
    • Google is opening the world's first AI museum in Los Angeles by Ivan Jenic Image via: Google Ever since AI image generators went mainstream, the debate over whether AI-generated art is real art hasn't let up. Those who don’t consider AI to be art say that if a machine does the creating and anyone can prompt it, there’s no skill involved, and therefore no art is produced. The counter-argument is equally persistent, as defenders of AI-generated artworks often claim that AI is just a tool, and that every major technological breakthrough, like the camera or the computer, was met with the same skepticism before eventually being accepted as a legitimate creative medium. Google’s position in this debate is clear. Which is no surprise, as the company is investing billions in AI infrastructure. And now, in efforts to encourage people to use its AI even more, Google is opening Dataland on June 20, which it's calling the world's first AI arts museum. Located inside The Grand LA, a Frank Gehry-designed building in Los Angeles, the museum spans 25,000 square feet. The museum is built around a collaboration with media artist Refik Anadol, who has worked with Google since 2016. The inaugural exhibition is called Machine Dreams: Rainforest, and is powered by an AI model trained on “an extensive dataset of the natural world.” It generates 1.2 billion pixels of visuals in real time and reacts to visitors dynamically. The space also generates soundscapes, real-time emotion sensing, and algorithmically produced scents. Image via: Refik Anadol Studio / Google Google says that the museum is powered by its Gemini models, which run on Google Cloud. So, everything is generated inside one of Google’s AI data centers and is streamed to the museum. Alongside the museum opening, Google Arts & Culture is funding an AI Artist Residency, giving four artists $25,000 grants each, along with mentorship from Refik Anadol Studio and access to Google's machine learning tools. Their work will be shown at Dataland and on the Google Arts & Culture website later this year. Google’s AI museum will undoubtedly initiate a fired-up debate on social media, and we can’t wait to see the first reactions. Via: Smithsonian Magazine
    • Calling GTA 6 overhyped crap doesn’t make you edgy, it just makes you sound like someone who hasn’t enjoyed anything since the PS2 era.
