Doom III is out there! W00T!

creative has like the worst drivers out there. it's always a bitch to install them and they give a lot of problems.

agreed, and cause there wasnt any driver updates for it, im removing it, and reformatting was both teh quickest and easiest (i have a remote server behidn me that i backup to, and reinstalling takes 5-10 minuts MAX, then half an hour for the windows updates,,,, vs spending couple hours digging through regestry / folders to dig creative out

I got my copy of Doom III, woohoo! I haven't had a chance to install it yet, I picked it up on the way to work, but yeah, important thing is I have it!

Aussies: EBGames & Harvey Norman have TONS of copies of Doom III in stock. The EBGames near me (Greensborough Plaza) had somewhere around the vicinity of 15 or so boxes full of Doom III.

That would be great if only the truck that was delivering Doom 3 to my local EB store didn't crash. Now I have to wait until tomorrow for Doom 3 goodness. Not happy at all.

Could you go to another EBGames, Harvey Norman or Dick Smith Electronics Power House?

I've been playing the game, in total darkness with my headphones on for a few hours now..and the game scares the crap out of me. I constantly use the flashlight to reveal the dark areas, and the game's ambience is incredibly scary. This is my new favorite game :ninja:

To all thoes who say the game isn't scary...

Rofl never seen that pic before...

i find the game too repetitive, new room same monsters blah blah... graphics are good on full with 2xAA at 1024 res. i always find my self with very low ammo, having 4 head shots to kill the all the mosters, yes very wierd i know, but all the mosters die; no matter what size they are, with the same amount of bulets.. :hmm:

exactly.it isn't scary no more.

yeah first 2-3 hours were great, now i'm bored of it.

anyway it's doom, it's supposed to be like this, doom 1 & 2 were about the same, what we could except?

carmack dont give a damn about how much we like the game, he gon sell the engine to 60 companies, he can afford 4 new ferraris...

Yeah you can definately run it at 1024x768 on medium with no problems .. my friend on his AMD 3200+, Ati Radeon 9500 oc'd to a 9700, ran it on ultra graphics and 1024x768 and was getting about 30ish frames a second... the only problem he was having was when entering room the game would cache and he would have to wait a few seconds .. but that's probably due to his lack of ram lol

Cooliez, thanks again for your reply (k)

it seems I need to paste what I said in another thread:

...saying that, despite what some people are saying, Im enjoying this, I dont know what you people where expecting, ID never said something about spectacular AI or so, they promised an horror game, they delivered it, period. Maybe its something I cannot understand, but then I dont care, I am happy with it, I am enjoying, guess who wins ;)

BananaMan - you quoted only that line, i also said that Doom3 is a game it was supposed to, we couldn't except anything more, carmack haven't lied, it's the horror-ish game like [sanctified] says. i like the game personally, first fps after 2 years which makes me want to play it and continue playing...

Yeah, that's logical..

I love it when people pass judgement on people they don't even know.

Indeed.

Carmack and ID are the daddies. They owe PC gamers nothing. They have consistently released games for GAMERS that have been scary and fun.. they have tried to remain independant for so long, they have released source code to their old titles for coders to experiment with, and they are one of the only game companies to offer Linux clients for their titles. I can't even imagine that 3D shooters & deathmatch would be anything like it is today if it wasn't for id.

Dominik - you need to STFU really, as its pretty clear you don't know WHAT you are talking about.

How does quoting the rest of your post affect what you said? Whether I quote the whole paragraph or not, the context is still identical - you accused Carmack of intentionally pumping out a half-ass product (which it isn't, IMO) so that he could obtain wealth to fuel his own greed. Which is, in my opinion, a complete load of bullcrap, especially you don't even know the man or his bank balance/income (not that it's even relevant).

Chicane-UK - STF... what? i only said that Carmack gonna sell the engine to 60 companies and can afford new expensive cars. So you need STFU really, i haven't said the game is bad or something.

Point I was making is that Carmack DOES give a damn.

He probably gives more of a damn than any other game developer out there.

The deal ends today so you better hurry if you need one (purchase link below). The T7 weighs in at just 72 grams meaning it should be fairly easy to carry around helping in the portability department. Via its USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface the T7 promises sequential read speeds of up to 1050 MB/s and writes of 1000 MB/s. It is also fairly robust with a drop protection of up to 2 meters, though bear in mind that this is not waterproof. For that you will have to choose the rugged T7 Shield. The technical specifications of the Samsung T7 1TB are given in the table below: Specification Value Model Code (1TB) MU-PC1T0T / MU-PC1T0H Interface USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) Dimensions (W × H × D) 85 × 57 × 8 mm Weight 72 g Sequential Read Speed Up to 1,050 MB/s Sequential Write Speed Up to 1,000 MB/s Drop Resistance Up to 2 m (6.6 ft) Encryption AES 256-bit hardware encryption Operating Temperature 0°C to 60°C Non-Operating Temperature -40°C to 85°C Humidity 5% to 95% (non-condensing) Shock Resistance 1,500 G, duration 0.5 ms, 3-axis (non-operating) Vibration Resistance 20–2,000 Hz, 20 G (non-operating) Get it at the link below: Samsung T7 Portable SSD, 1TB External Solid State Drive, MU-PC1T0T/AM, Gray: $189.98 (Sold and Shipped by Amazon US) Good to know This Amazon deal is U.S. specific, and not available in other regions unless specified. • I just wish they would put more love into Virtual Desktops. There is just so much more they could do.
    • Sounds like you just skimmed over the review, I answer all those questions in it. Although I admit I did not test if DTS works over the headphones, when I get some time I will test this. My personal use case is more speaker-driven (I cover this in the review too).
    • It actually does the same exact thing as yours, 7.1 virtual surround over headphones. From the product page: "Experience sound that surrounds you with 7.1 virtual surround, delivering a wider, more immersive soundstage for movies, games, and music." So both of them are two channel, with 7.1 virtual surround that only work in Headphones mode.
