Good loca or Indie bands you've listend to lately

In the hopes of boosting some Indie or not well known artists I must ask: What good local/unknown bands are in your area? Or have you listened to any small label/Indie/unknown artists lately that are really good?

(Hopefully we can get a good thread going here and liven up this forum :) )

Personally, I usually find smaller bands to have a different sound, have more energy on stange and overall, usually make music more fun to listen to.

My personal favs are:

The Barstool Prophets. A rock band. They have alot of humor in their lyrics (some sarcasm) and a few of their songs have a really heavy beat to them namely Vigilante (awesome stumming!)

Less than Jake - a punk rock band. They really mix their sound up and have electric guitar, trumpet and saxaphone playing at the same time. (I saw them open for Bad Religion last week - they're pretty decent for an opening act.)
