spyglass
ive gotten this to, when i first installed sp2 and was playin w/ the firewalli use a router w/ built in firewall so i just use that but i did notice that once I relize using a router you can afford to turn off xp built in firewall,or for that matter using a third party firewall (ie: zonealarms) However i still pose the question, how do i tell if the xp built in firewall is running or not, when it shows it on in security center, but shows it off in network connections icon.Is the network connections not showing firewall on,just a bug,or is the firewall truly not on?Ive run task manager processes with it really off and really on and it shows same number of processes. So how do i really tell for sure? L3thal Veteran Posted August 10, 2004 Veteran Share Posted August 10, 2004 If you're so paranoid about it running or not, disable the service.

cyoung1616
If you're not behind a router, the next time it does it go here and see if any ports are blocked. https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 Cody

Im not really paranoid,as i personally use a third party firewall.I guess im more ****ed that microsoft didnt find this fairly simple bug durning there beta testing.Kinda makes we wonder if they couldnt even see this bug,i can only wonder what else lurks in this service pack...
