I have the gcf in D:\Games\Steam\SteamApps

and that rar in

D:\Games\Steam\SteamApps\<email address>\counter-strike source beta

put all the contents of CSSBETA in the EXTRACTED GCF folder,then try hl2.exe

I've got all the files together, you'll get the error message I got :\

You need at least:

steam.dll

filesystem_stdio.dll

and

dbg.dll

in

\steam\steamapps\username\counter-strike source beta\bin\

But still - errors :\

Ah! After copying some files from my other cs folders..

Unable to get IFileSystem inferface from filesystem factory.

Atleast now I get the error everybody else gets :)

I'm going to the Official Neowin CS server. This is taking forever, I might as well waste my time playing CS then wait for little 12year olds crack the GCF file.

Well, doesn't matter - I'm studying for a history final (damn summer college classes!) so I keep checking out this forum and the channel (eek!) every 5-10 minutes.

No need to hurry, there still is no way to play it at the moment :)

I'm just trying to figure out what to do now...

Get some sleep (it's 3:40 in the morning here), try my best at getting it to work myself (seeing as other people have a head start and better resources (i.e. a complete cyber cafe -steam directory dump) that wouldn't make much sense) or ... just stare blankly at my monitor, waiting for something to happen :D
