JimmyT
I reinstalled my copy of windows today to another partition, just to check some compatibility issues I had with SP2. I've used the same, genuine cd key on both partitions, but the product number is different. Wasn't that supposed to be the same? The last 3 numbers of the product id was 140 on the old installation and are 295 on the new installation  Also... I have installed SP2 RTM (with the right checksum) and on the system properties it says: Service Pack 2, v.2180. On the new partition it just says Service Pack 2. Weird! iMonkey
From what I under stand, the lovely number you speak of is randomly generated each time you install Windows.
todd
IIRC, the product id changes depending on your hardware (which could mean the size of the partition) .. so that might be one reason.
JimmyT
Oh. This means that I might have to call MS again to activate windows and explain to them once more what have I done since the previous installation (new tv tuner and 2 new hard disks)
