XPSP2: Include Movie Maker 2?

Recommended Posts

Hi. I am following that slipstreaming guide neowin has up. I am now at the stage of putting all my favourite stuff on the CD. I just wanted to know if SP2 has Movie Maker 2 and Windows Media Player 9 already built in. I did install SP2 on my computer but I installed over the top of XP Pro SP1 I had running and already had those two new programs installed.

Thanks.

INTRODUCTION

When you install Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) on your computer, Microsoft Windows Movie Maker 2.1 is also installed on your computer.

MORE INFORMATION

Windows Movie Maker 2.1 includes updates to Group Policy. Windows Movie Maker 2.1 also includes updates that may help improve the security of your computer. For additional information about Windows Movie Maker, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/m...er/default.mspx

Then I found this on google: http://channels.lockergnome.com/media/arch..._maker_21.phtml

Windows XP SP2 is now rolling out?. installing it yesterday on my main working computer, a Toshiba laptop, went perfectly. Now I have Movie Maker 2.1. What?s changed? Two main items, one visible and one noThe visible change is the addition of a third tab in Options window, a list of installed codecs/filters on the computer and the ability to toggle them on or off for Movie Maker use..... the neat thing is that it doesn't disable the item's use by other software. The invisible change is the addition of support for 'pass-through'. Now you can connect your analog source (VCR, analog camcorder, etc.) to your digital camcorder, pull the tape from the digital camcorder and connect it to your computer. Then, in Movie Maker 2.1 capture the video that's playing in the analog device.....painlessley converted to digital by the digital camcorder.

There's a new page at www.papajohn.org that provides the details about the new version. Use the menu and go to Setup > MM2.1

The new version will be covered in depth in my next weekly newsletter on Friday.
