hey raggety that looks awesome. I'm a html noob but I managed to get the first one posted to work. This looks a lot better and want some info on where and how to put shortcuts and change menu names to fit my other desktop.html I had. Help us! ;)

ok guys, i've been working on the request. sry for the slow response but i didnt think that anyone wanted this and i forgot about it.

I've created the black and white version. i've also zipped up all the files u need to do the whole thing. i must mention that it has a hard time with the display function (editing the desktop) for some reason. I cant seem to find the problem. other than that, everything works great. also, on the black and white version, i didnt know what color everyone wanted for the sub menus. so i left them the previous color (light blue and grey). the top menus are black with white lettering. if want another color for the submenus, let me know.

also, the links from the original page created by madcat75 are still there along with the weather. they are just commented out for speed (and they arent needed since we have the sliding menu now).

here you go. let me know if u want something else or if there's a problem.

Zip file

blackmartinix and everyone, if u want to put in the links, they r located at the bottom of the html and are pretty straight forward. most of them are already filled in, u just have to change them to w/e u want. let me know if u need more info.

i dont know about a reg hack but i do know of a program that will automatically maximze windows for u. also, if u place ur mouse at the top of the desktop (with active desktop enabled) a bar should popup that gives u the option to max it.

also, here's something that you can try:

http://www.theeldergeek.com/maximize_internet_explorer.htm

pretty much. it will retract if u click on one of the other links or if u click on the 'refresh desktop' at the bottom of the links.

i didnt write the original script. i just modified it for the active desktop.

here's the blue menu as requested.

Blue Zip File

I have an issue with my Xfire shortcut, I use the builder DHTML Central, but when I launch xfire, the program starts, but without certain features, skin doesn't load properly and it is default windows skin not blue xfire gui...

slideMenu.makeMenu('sub','xFire','C:/Program Files/Internet/Xfire/Xfire.exe')

I have also tried it this way

slideMenu.makeMenu('sub','xFire','C:\\Program Files\\Internet\\Xfire\\Xfire.exe')

This is only happening with the slide menu, not with the old links :( sos!

Need for Speed Underground also seems to be functioning improperly...

any advice?

Thanks!

it sounds to me like its something about the way that it calls xfire. i've had that problem too and not sure whats causing. I think that it uses internet explorer to call the files and this some how causes the program to be opened without all its functionality.

maybe if u specify the target, it might be able to fix it (_blank, _self, etc).

using the example that u gave above, here's how u add the target.

slideMenu.makeMenu('sub','xFire','C:\\Program Files\\Internet\\Xfire\\Xfire.exe','_self')

just add onto the end of it. u can use all the regular targets like u use in explorer including iframes.

If you want to use international weather, here is what to do:

Go to http://weather.noaa.gov/index.html

Scroll down to international weather and choose your country, then click go.

Then select your current location and click go.

It will then say something like:

Current Weather Conditions:

Yeovilton, United Kingdom

(EGDY) 51-00N 002-38W 0M

^

Use these four letters as your zip code.

Hopefully that helps.

Also if you want shortcuts to My Computer and My Network Places, right click My Computer and click create shortcut. Copy the shortcut to your C: drive.

In desktop.html put a shortcut somewhere to C:/Shortcut to My Computer.lnk

Do the same for My Network Places.

If somebody asks why I did not edit my previous post to add this info, it was because the edit button isn't there for some reason.

    • "just $100 per TB"? Just? Are we trying to make this seem like the new normal? Kinda weird to make it sound like that is not a ridiculously expensive asking price.
    • The reviews you refer to mean nothing. Where there is no journalism there is no reason to call the gaming media's opinion pieces "reviews". For GP games there is indeed a metric for success - increasing subscriptions. Which turns in revenue. The only circumstance in which subs do not rise when great is being released is a Game Pass system where the company is close to fully saturated with customers in a subscription. However, in that case as the theory goes you spend aplenty in all kind of games - from shady live service cash cows and customer offending agitprop crap in purple colours to robust and entertaining single player games. And keep a solid level of profitability. Ignoring the simply innocuous but mid games MGS has released primarily of the second kind.
    • Report: Microsoft to use AWS to help GitHub deal with a major surge in demand by Pradeep Viswanathan Thanks to the surge of coding AI agents, GitHub's usage has skyrocketed over the past 12 months. To meet this demand, GitHub started with a plan in October 2025 to increase capacity by 10x. However, by early this year, the company realized that it needed 30x scale. This rapid growth has caused severe strain on the platform's reliability, resulting in several small outages over the past few months. In April, GitHub published a long blog post explaining the steps it is taking to resolve these reliability issues. In the post, the company also confirmed that it is working toward a multi-cloud architecture for better resilience. Today, Business Insider reported that GitHub is turning to Amazon Web Services to help deal with a major surge in AI-driven coding activity. It is important to note that GitHub is still in the process of moving completely to the Azure cloud. The current plan is to move the platform fully to Azure by 2027 so that it can scale better as per developer demand. Therefore, the current decision to utilize AWS might be part of a short-term plan to meet immediate demand. A Microsoft spokesperson confirmed that GitHub is using multiple cloud providers with the following statement: For Microsoft, the decision highlights the operational pressure behind the AI boom. GitHub has to stay reliable for developers at a time when rivals such as Codex, Cursor, Claude Code, and other AI coding tools are gaining attention. And the decision to use AWS for computing capacity seems practical given the circumstances.
