Why is my CPU so hot?

Processor: Intel P4 3.0 Ghz (prescott)

Motherboard: INTEL D915GAG

Heatsink (rpm): Stock

Case: Generic

# of Case Fans: 2

1 - 80mm

1 - 140mm

Avg Room Temp: (21c-25c)

CPU Temp (Idle - Stress): (60c-72c)

Board Temp (Idle - stress): (28c - 35c)

I think I got a serious prob with my CPU. It's 81?C (178?F) on idle.

Processor: AMD Athlon XP, 1400 MHz (10.5 x 133) 1600+

Motherboard: MSI MS-6511 (2 PCI, 1 AGP, 1 CNR, 2 DIMM, Audio, Video)

Heatsink: Stock

Case: Stock

Case Fans: 1 (Around 5000rpm)

Average Room Temp: 22?C - 28?C

CPU Temp (Idle - Stress): 81?C - 86?C

Board Temp (Idle - Stress): 23?C - 25?C

Grandizer, Bourne... I had the same problem of my CPU being very hot, and I put it down to the stock heatsink/fan and thermal paste provided, it just aint good! Whats probably happened is the thermal paste is all over the place and its not created a good enough conductor - wrong words used but you get me?!

My advice would be to invest in a new heatsink/fan - a decent one too.

I bought a Zalman CNP9500 and it bought my temperature from 55C down to 35C

Thnx. Yesterday I did a virus scan, and it caused mt cpu temp to spike to 91C.

insanekiwi said in a different topic if your CPU goes about 90?C, your CPU will shutdown. How come that didn't happen to you?:wacko:: . Or did it?

Heatsink: ATT which runs a 3500 rpm

Case: Not sure, but it gets great cooling cause the side of the case has been took off.

Fans: One ever cool fan intake and one exaust that runs at 3000 rpm and one regular fan that points into the case

Temps: Room: 75-80 F Case: 70-75 CPU: 38-50 C

darwin is the hotest place in australia normal temp is 34c and 80% humid i hope my pc is nice and cool

my video is the hotest thing 75c and im not shure if its ok
