The olympics have come to an end...sadly.

What was your favorite part of the olympics?

What countries stunned you?

and... What was the major controversy?

A person that stunned me is Michael Phelps, he has true talent, performing that well, under much pressure, 8 medals he came away with, he even let another swimmer take is place. Major controversies could definitely be the guy who ran out and interfered with the Brazilean runner, how that american runner wasnt ready and they shot the gun (little controversy) and Paul Hamm and his questionable gold.

Biggest surprise was the US mens basketball team coming with only Bronze.

Countries that stunned me? None

Major Controversy? Has to be Paul Hamm's gold.

My favorite part was Michael Phelps and El Guerrouj Hicham of Morocco finally winning the 1500 and 5000 m races. He truly deserves it and I was so happy to see him win. Liu Xiang of China winning Gold came at a close second. Gymnastics, Volleyball, and various other events come third. No country really stunned me... the three powerhouses: U.S. , Russia, and China continued their medal dominance. The major controversey was definitly Paul Hamm's Gold.

[EDIT]

Oh! The Iraq soccer team did shock me though. I wish they had won.

Favorite Part: Rulon Gardner winning Bronze and then taking off his wrestling shoes at center mat with tears streaming down his eyes (he's now officially done with wrestling). To see a man that big and strong with those kind of emotions...made me tear a little

I also enjoyed seeing that dude from the UAE win Gold in the double trapshoot. The first medal ever for the United Arab Emerates. Carly Patterson winning Gold in the gymnastics all-around. Michael Phelps letting Ian Holm swim the final relay for Gold (I think it was Ian Holm). The USA women winning Gold in beach volleyball.

It was a good 2 weeks definately.

I hate to say it, but for me it was the closing ceremonies. I just get

very tired of all the hype, pomp, cheating and questionable judging.

This is sad because I have been watching since 1976 and find that I

just can't get as excited about them as I used too.

one game I enjoyed the most was women's valleyball final between China and Russia. it was breath-taking, and Russian headcoach was very fun to watch, quite a character.
