.NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1

The primary focus of Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (SP1) is improved security. In addition, the service pack includes roll-ups of all reported customer issues found after the release of the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1. Of particular note, SP1 provides better support for consuming WSDL documents, Data Execution prevention and protection from security issues such as buffer overruns.

SP1 also provides support for Windows XP Service Pack 2 to provide a safer, more reliable experience for customers using Windows XP.

SP1 is available in 22 languages.

This is included as an extra (along with the .NET 1.1 redistributable) on the MSDN Windows XP SP2 CD, so some people may already have it and not realise.

Was this installed with SP2 RTM? I have to hand it to MS though, I had an issue with .net framework and a network connection and they gave me a download to an sp1 hotfix. Support like that rocks.

You can't do it the way it comes, it's a msp, not a msi.

You have to create an admin installatin point for the .NET Framework 1.1, and then slipstream the SP1 into it. Then you should be able to deploy the new msi.

but i tried that before i posted that and i got a nice "missing file" error after integrating the MSP into the MSI file

anyone have a specific comandline for integrating this?

i tried the whole msiexe source to path quite mode intefration stuff and just got the file not found error after it said it was "successfully" integrated together when i tried to run it

I don't know if I needed it or not, but I installed it anyway since it appeared on Windows Update as critical.
