@A.K.R., You are not suppose to drag the browser/tabextensions/compact.jar into the Themes window.

Those are the files that you drag into the Extensions window. Except the browser.jar

@Stylez Ray, try to boot your computer and after that try to replace the file.

@pxleyes, No, the guide doesn't suck at all. But not my prob if you don't like it...

If the most recent TBE doesn't work then try the one that comes with the Safarifox09. Works fine for me.

PS: Make sure that your Toolbar is like this. Don't mind about the "Use small icons".

hi shiggy!

hope your around to see this

couple of things i m hoping someone can help me clear up..

1) i do not have a path like

Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default\extensions\{******}\chrome

instead mine goes something like this..

C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Firefox\Profiles\default\6gumko86.slt\extensions

and in this folder there are a whole bunch of long numbers (like in a registry), each of which seems to correspond to a single firefox theme.. i also have this..

C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Firefox\Profiles\default\6gumko86.slt\chrome

so where do i place the tabextension.jar? i assume that since compact menus is already installed, i do not need to bother with the compact.jar..

2) the author really shot himself in the foot by including wayyy too many variations of each file.. for eg,

modtabextensionverxxx(non lag ver).rar seems to contain the same file as plain old tabextensions.jar (file size da same at least)

so which do i use? this is further confused by the fact he places a link to tabextensions081103.rar on his DA page.. ditto for browser.jar (he also has a link to browser093.rar)

3) how do i install the tabextensions?

step 1) says download n install the extension den step 2) goes ahead n tells u to drop the tabextension.jar into the specified folder.. so do i do both steps or does pasting the file in the dir count as "installation"?

haha i think you can see where the confusion comes from n i m sure lotsa ppl are facing the same problems.. goin by the no. of queries i see here n on aero-soft..

can someone please clarify this? ta! ;)

I reinstalled my firefox and everything went well. I'll try to help but I won't promise that I can..

@A.K.R., Go to Tabbrowser Extensions settings. Then Appearance -> Tab and then uncheck the square where it says "Show progress meter in tabs".

@losconquistador, if you follow the guide then there should be no problems.

But you open Firefox then Tools -> Extensions -> Drag and drop Compact_Menu_1.6.6.xpi and tabextensions.xpi from the Safarifox09 folder to the extensions window.

juz wondering shiggy..

1) it says to uncheck "close current tab button", so does this mean we have to close tabs via the tab menu now? or will the buttons still work juz that it looks messed up?

2) how do i change the tab fonts again?

thanks alot.. you've been a tremendous help! :D

ok got all problems solved after some trying out...

1. one userchrome.css file has to be put in the desired folder, not the whole folder, that was my mistake

2. you have to order your menu, btons etc. exact like in the screenshot

3. you have to use the bookmark toolbar (since I'm using it always that's no problem for me)

the lines in the tabs appear when you dont't order everything like in the screenshot!

so all is working for me, and it's looking great!!

OK, I tried to reverse the changes just now, only to mess up my Firefox installation. I have to dump everything (including all my settings, history, etc.) and start all over again. Luckily, I was able to rescue my bookmarks. But for the other things, I have to re-do it all over again.

I'm not installing any more themes from hills until someone ports them all over to normal themes.

On an interesting side note, I was reinstalling the TabBrowser Extensions when I noticed that the version number seems to be changed. I got my copy off http://texturizer.net/firefox/extensions/ . Look at the screenshot below if you don't believe me.

if it helps anyone

you can change the tab menu BG:

Prepare the background image to change.

Rename to "menuback.png".

Open SAFARI_safari.jar in WinRAR.

Drag and drop "menuback.png" into "SAFARI_safari.jar\global\menu".

Install "SAFARI_safari.jar" again.

you can replace safari_safari.jar with any theme tab you wish to change, im not sure if that will help someone make naitive tabs or not..

Without reading through the topic, I like the theme a lot and all, but my tab bar is messed up! That's really a shame, does anybody have the same problem? Or does someone know how I can fix it?

Look at the attached file...

You really want to know how to fix this. Just read the thread :)

yeah shiggy's da man! :D

heh but in case things cannot be clearer.. here's a step-by-step to get it working

1) you must FIRST of all install the compact menu AND tabextensions via the XPI files provided. this is where i got mixed up.. it wasnt exactly stated word for word but i guess as a firefox user it makes sense, XPI files = installers

do this by draggin n droppin the xpi files into the extension manager (menu>tools>extensions)

2) next you have to replace the compact.jar and tabextensions.jar files installed by the previous step with the modded ones

copy and paste the compact.jar file provided into

Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default\extensions\{******}\chrome

where {********} is a folder containing \chrome\compact.jar

this folder only appears there after you install the compact menu xpi so look into the folders most recently modified n it shd be in one of them.

ditto for tabextensions.jar.. copy n paste tabextensions.jar provided into the

Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default\extensions\{******}\chrome

folder which already contains a tabextension.jar

in both cases juz rename the existing jar file inside to .bak or watever to back em up

3) Put browser.jar in \Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\chrome

dun think this can get any more straight forward

4) go into the userchrome.css FOLDER provided n copy the userchrome.css file (well.. it was a lousy naming convention i ll admit)

paste this into the \Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default\chrome folder

5) Put user.js in \Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default

think this is straight forward

6) you r DONE!! start up firefox n bask in the glory of inspirat!!! :D

NOTE: if anyone like me has a path name like \Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default\xxxxxx

where xxxxxx is a buncha alphanumerics, juz go into THAT folder and you will find the extensions\{********}\chrome folders you need. also u can just put the user.js file into xxxxxxx (treat it like its already the default folder).

think this is common sense but hope you understand wat i m tryin to say ;)

    • Save 35% on Sony's SS-CS5M2 3-way high-res bookshelf speakers by Taras Buria Sony is currently offering a big discount on its SS-CS5M2 bookshelf speaker, saving you 35% on a set of high-quality audio equipment. The SS-CS5M2 is a passive 3-way bookshelf speaker with a 5.12-inch woofer, a 25 mm soft-dome tweeter, and a 19 mm super tweeter. This design allows different drivers to handle different parts of the sound spectrum for a clearer, more detailed audio when watching movies or listening to music. The compact cabinet size allows you to place these speakers on shelves, desks, or stands, making them a practical choice for apartments, bedrooms, and small living rooms. Despite its compact size, the SS-CS5M2 delivers up to 100 W of power. Note that since the speakers are passive, you will need an amplifier to drive them. However, if you do, you can use them for high-resolution music, thanks to a claimed frequency response of 53 Hz - 50 kHz. It is able to extend so far high in the spectrum as a result of those super tweeters. While they will work with most amplifiers and AV receivers, Sony says this pair is a perfect match for its AV receivers, such as STRDH190, 590, 790, or 1000. • So they somehow expect Apple to easily make it so that if I install say DeepSeek that DS can then handle all the tasks that Siri would be doing while integrated in the OS? That sounds like just rediculous.
    • For ray-tracing, the Radeon RX 9070 XT is better than the GeForce RTX 5070, but worse than the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti The Radeon RX 9070 XT is similar to the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti in rasterization Both AMD and NVIDIA have had serious issues with drivers in the past, so I can't say that one is better or worse than the other. Yes. AMD has better support Linux than does NVIDIA. Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to uninstall NVIDIA's drivers before installing AMD's drivers. That's up to you.
