[CRICKET] USA humiliated, ICC Trophy

Recommended Posts

Its not often us English have a joke in sporting terms at the USA. (apart from "Soccer")

However, i switched on skysports news only to find out that the US have been bowled out for 65. One of the lowest scores ever recorded in the ICC trophy.

To add insult to injury after the Aussies win, Captain of the Australian team Ricky Ponting added.

"I hope the USA guys can get something out of it - otherwise it is a waste of time.

"I hope they don't devalue the tournament. But what we want to do is test ourselves against the best teams all the time. I don't think we were tested that much today."

Cant say that i agree more.

Cricket is a team sport which ranks second to only to football (soccer) as

the world's most popular sport in terms of spectatorship

For the smart-asses who think the world doesn't exist outside the US...

Anyways, The US has longgggg ways to go before they can compete with th rest of the main teams..

Frankly, I didn't even know that we HAD a Cricket team. Shows you what I know. I will say that I've always thought that Soccer (football) is a lot more exciting than US Football. A lot more physically grueling too.

^and you live in texas, thats blasphemy there...

^in context the way i take it is, we didn't even know we had a cricket team let alone it losing to a country who actually cares about the sport

lol i was just about to say the exact same thing.

next you'll be saying we have a rugby team

Hah.. its so funny.

If the USA had kicked ass it would have been "HAH! A sport we hardly have anything to do with and we beat the British who are fanatical about it! HAHAH!"

And when you lose its like "Pfft - ghey sport that no one cares about" (yeah, in the USA maybe) "so who cares if we lost in your crappy game."

You guys can be REAL good sportsmen sometimes.

lol, i like that. When i started the topic i was specifically posting to get a response from US, especially at the

"Pfft - ghey sport that no one cares about" (yeah, in the USA maybe) "so who cares if we lost in your crappy game."

The US didn't have a team... until very very recently. The ICC decided to expand this year by including a few other teams taken from a qualification tournament that really do not deserve to even be considered for the international level.

Cricket is an amazing sport, thoroughly intellectual and a lot more exciting then it may appear to be at first glance. It's good to see that the US at least has a team, which shows that they are finally expanding their horizons not only in terms of awareness but in participation as well. Unfortunately this thread shows a splendid sample of fantastically ignorant individuals who don't represent that trend very well.

If only your military endeavours were as geographically limited as your global awareness...

Its pretty sad when a country like the US, dont actually make its residents aware that they are entering in a international tournament.

so we are supposed to know about every little tourneyment and every sport/game? Especially why would they want to let the country know they were enterting a international tourny where they were most likely going to lose...

eRad: Way to bring this into a political debate, so im just going to stay out of it this time. Next time keep your comments to where they belong...

    • The current Statcoungter desktop numbers has Google Chrome increasing it's market share this past year and currently commanding 75% share. Everybody else is just making up the numbers with even MS Edge losing 3% this past year and has dipped just below 10% share which is staggering considering it's default on every Windows deviced purchased. If these numbers are correct that terrible Edge number is both devastating and embarrassing for MS especially when you add in the terribly low Bing market share. This leads me to ask a couple of questions as the default browser holding just less than 10% market share seems really weird. It used to be that all Chromium browsers were being counted as Google Chrome in some cases.  Is this still happening? Do these high Google Chrome numbers contains some Edge user numbers?
    • Yeah, all web browsers seem to have some junk in them these days. The regular Brave browser has a lot of unnecessary stuff in it, similar to Microsoft Edge, so I don't see any benefits of using Brave over Microsoft Edge if you already have Microsoft Edge fully set up with ad blockers and that. The cleanest or best free browser outside of 'Microsoft Edge' I’ve tried so far is 'Samsung Browser'. It has very little bloat and is a nice-looking web browser with an inbuilt 'Ad blocker'. I also really like the web browser called 'Floorp' that is based on Firefox. This browser can also install Chrome extensions. I have a system wide Ad blocking program for Windows 11 that doesn't just blocks ads in the web browser, but over the whole system. I don't really need a web browser with an inbuilt ad blocker because of that.
