Use a hacked serial & lose your data

Recommended Posts

The home folder holds pretty much everything that allows users to customize there computer in anyway. Having it deleted would be like just getting a new computer with only the operating system installed on it.

Thanks for the post. It makes sense to me now.

the home folder does not contian applications

When you double-click the hard disk on your desktop, you'll notice several folders. The Applications folder contains your Mac OS X applications, and the System folder contains the Mac OS X system software. The Library folder contains files used by Mac OS X. The Users folder contains a folder for each user (known as the user's home folder).
I was always taught an eye for an eye. (Within reason) This seems very fair shouldn't steal if your scared of the consequences.

so i rip off his software, something i might use rarely and hes justified to wipe all my stuff? many people store their lives on their pc and its them that will be affected.

Then what the **** is this! Why wont you just accept that the applications folder is in the Home folder of each user. Aswell as there being A completely different applications folder in the root directory ??

That's extremely interesting, by home directory, does that mean the relative root directory which the application is installed in? i.e. C:\? haha would be funny... however it's a little flawed, what if the legit user's key was stolen, he would be innocently done by this way of combating piracy haha... and furthermore i don't think this is really ethical practice in terms of software.

are you using panther bc when i click the same thing on mine (10.3.5) there is no applications folder, also are there apps in that folder, or it could also just be a shortcut to the real applications folder

I looked in side (I am using panther 10.3.5) and there are apps inside it.

I think when you have multiple accounts on 1 mac each user gets there own one if only 1 user is present (and running as admin) they simply use the main Apps folder. that is the only logical answer I can see.

ok sounds good to me, i am using only one user, i wasnt trying to be rude or anything just trying to help make things clear

Its ok, I didnt mean to blow off either just when 3 people say ya wrong and ive got a folder right there with all the apps in it lol starts to make you angry :p

[caps lock] THIS IS AGAINST THE LAW! [/caps lock]

This guy is gonna get the sh*t sued out of him because he cannot touch any personal content on your computer what so ever. Im laughing because he is gonna lose alot of money and maybe everything he has. I recommened we write to him and tell him to take this off ASAP because he is gonna get sued very very hard and lose so much money hes problably not gonna be able to pay it off.

how does he detect "illegal" serial numbers? if someone reverse engineered the key validation, there's no way to tell the difference between a "real" serial # and a fake one... what if people who actually paid got their files deleted? he'd be in soo much trouble!

it doesn't matter if you are using it as a single user or multi-user mode .. The "main" Applications folder stays "outside" the Users/<your user name> folder

unless you made an Application folder inside you home folder, it shouldn't be there.

I know you will keep arguing about this no matter what.

Anyways .. for rest of you guys who are not Mac users .. here's a link .. ( google is your friend )

Agreed. If you pirate, you deserve to be punished. The app only erased documents, music, etc. Atleast it didn't format the computer leaving it unusable.

The point is that the software contains the bomb. It was not intended to be triggered by official keys but the fact that your computer has the bomb waiting to go off would make even the legitimate users uncomfortable.

i would imagine it would be going off of blacklisted keys. sort of like how microsoft blacklisted the most pirated keys for sp1.

So many comments about an eye for an eye etc.

These are bull**** and have nothing to do with it.

Just becuase you think that people who use a hacked serial deserve to have their data deleted does not give him the right to do so. If someone runs over your dog on purpose you may think its fair to kill them but you shouldn't, you would contact the appropriate authoraties etc. (excuse my crap example)

People could lose career important documents etc...

I look foward to reading the news about this guy getting sued.

    • This saddens me greatly
    • Well again I do not mind seeing it charge my stuff if it does it well. "yeah charge my phone like that, charge it good"
    • Getting so tired of this push for that new useless slop over the less-useless old slop that at this point I just want M$ to have this nice, big, hearty cup of *FU*.

With features like HTTPS Everywhere and built-in tracker blocking, Brave keeps your online activities safe from prying eyes. Brave is one of the safest browsers on the market today. It blocks third-party data storage. It protects from browser fingerprinting. And it does all this by default. Speed - Brave is built on Chromium, the same technology that powers Google Chrome, and is optimized for speed, providing a fast and responsive browsing experience. Brave Browser also features Brave Rewards, a system that rewards users with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) for viewing opt-in ads. This innovative system provides an alternative revenue model for content creators and a way to support the Brave community. SlimBrave Neo takes all the good things about Brave and makes them even better by keeping everything clean, light, and privacy-focused. It removes the extra clutter, turns off features you might not need, and cuts down on anything that could slow you down or collect unnecessary data. • Thanks Microsoft but no, I find both iterations of Outlook terrible nowadays and switched back to Thunderbird at home.
