thanks for the input. it was already noted above that stylexp caused sme y'z dock crashes, but most people here use the uxtheme patch anyway.

i've never heard of candyxp, though. most people use iconphile or iconpackager, or reshack system files.

and welcome to neowin. :)

from aqua-soft, eh?

yeah, aqua-dock is a rip. ever wonder why you need "y'z docklet.dll"?

I did a google search and found a utility called CandyXP that allows you to customize your icons. In the changelog it said 'fixed bug that caused yzdock to crash.'

i think you'll find that that was referring to a bug that candyXP once had, not a mirraculous fix for someone elses problem.

also, i have used yzdock for a long time. i've been using it for a couple of years infact and after finding out that it ran as a service (didn't know for ages) and therefor took away a little memory, i decided to get the uxtheme.dll patch. a while after i tried to change some icons and i started to get this exact error. i've just read this thread and this has brought that into my attention so i'm gonna unpatch the uxtheme.dll and reinstall stylesxp and see how it goes... i'll post back soon.

yea thas what i thought, sticky said neowin doesnt support the program at all

Its fine to talk about it, just no download links are allowed.

I have never had any problems with Yz Dock, I am also using SP2 and have my system themed with the Uxtheme hack.

there was some doubt earlier, so just to reiterate: the CandyXP trick works for me too.

I had StyleXP installed then uninstalled and switched to uxtheme. After that, yzdock would always crash when I tried to change the icon under "Property of Dock Item..." Anyway iJeff's CandyXP thing worked for me.

As far as the whole recycle bin thing, isn't it just opening the recycle folder to get a count of the items / total size? Seems to me like that's the whole point of having it.

    • Nice rant! Expletive after expletive after expletive. Poor petal, I've touched a nerve. Would you like a tissue to wipe those tears away. Btw, nice one calling Neowin trash. Why would you stick around when you disrespect this site and the people behind it? Just go away if you feel that way.

    • This is of course "clickbait" WTF? It is literally your example but tech based. A "clickbait" title is a sensationalized headline designed to manipulate readers into clicking a link using things like "fear" rather than delivering objective facts. A "clickbait" headline also usually provides little value compared to the hype generated. How does this headline not qualify? It's a generic often reused headline that is overly sensationalized. Oh no! "millions" can't use this app anymore. It has no basic facts like what f*cking app. You read the article and it's the Samsung VPN which no one cares about and there is a million free VPNs. How are you defending this ######? Headlines like this (and among other things) make me read Neowin much less than I used to in the past. It's trash...
