Your fastest boot time

Bootvis gave me a 12sec boot time on Windows 2000 on my old Gateway Profile3. I had that thing SUPER tweaked. I miss that machine.

Old Win ME pc I built (when ME first came out) was around 10 seconds from post to desktop. OS only installed, with BootVis and TweakUI run. But, that was back in the day.

memory check disabled, no Floppy drive seek, turn on. read autoecte.bat and command.cfg and load dos.

I never turn my pc off, I do not use sleep,standby or hybernate... (its as fast as it take to move the mouse to brink the screen back up.

For my Win7 based play/work system during a cold boot, it's around 20 seconds or so to get to the desktop, and maybe another 10-20 for it to completely settle down and idle after login. One thing I like about 7 is how it optimizes its boot process; first time thru is "normal speed", after that though the startup apps launch near instantly on later reboots. I have a 2008R2 server that seems to boot pretty quick, but can't say for sure as it's in a closet and I never actually see it.. every once in a while I'll log in remotely, otherwise we leave each other alone. My other servers run either Arch or Debian; they can boot in under 10 seconds; I can fire my main system and the servers up at the same time, by the time Win7 is loaded and I'm SSH'ing into one of them, they're wondering what took me so long. Unfair comparison though, as they don't have a GUI so a lot less to load.

One of my systems takes 1 min from Windows loading screen to logon screen. Q6600 3GHz 4GB 7200RPM Win7 64bit. I think that's way too long but there's nothing I can really do about it. :/

My fastest on my Desktop was around 25-30 seconds, on my laptop less than 10.

Seriously??? Wow, dude. You're running on an extremely handicapped system. :/

1. backup any important data.

2. shut down.

3. disconnect all peripherals except mouse, keyboard, and monitor.

4. remove all internal cards that are not critical.

5. reinstall windows & all drivers for base hardware (chipset, network, vga, sound)

6. start adding your other hardware 1 piece at a time until you isolate the problem. reboot frequently.

i HAD an hp a749c, it took 30-42 seconds

then i put one together myself, was real nice, took 18-22 seconds

then got a ****ty laptop, it may have well been a netbook, but hey, it took 30 seconds -HP dv6 (never buy an HP)

now i have an Asus N73JQ, it takes 16-22 seconds

from a cold boot the iPhone is very slow to boot up >_<

We should use Soluto as a more accurate benchmark since it tells you when the operating system and all its services have been completely loaded and the system is ready to be used.

I'm not certain if it takes the bios boot time into consideration or just the operating system.
