sOma
Does anyone know of an abit motherboard that will support pc133 sdram, an AMD (not VIA) chipset, and a AMD Athlon-Thunderbird 1400MHz, 266MHz Bus processor? I am having trouble finding one... Thanks for any help you can offer. :)
aco Veteran Posted October 7, 2001 Veteran Share Posted October 7, 2001 There doesn't seem to be any mobo's made by Abit fitting those criteria. All motherboards from all manufacturors with AMD chipsets seem to only support DDR SDRAM PC1600 or PC2100
sOma
Oh... that sucks :- ... are there any good motherboards that will support all of the things I mentioned with a VIA chipset? I was hoping to get either Abit or Asus, but if there is something better, or just as good that will support those things, that would be nice... PabUK Veteran Posted October 7, 2001 Veteran Share Posted October 7, 2001 I think the Abit KT7A does but I might be wrong.
aco Veteran Posted October 7, 2001 Veteran Share Posted October 7, 2001 You obviously already have a substantial amount of PC133 RAM, so if you want to keep it you will probably have to go with a mobo with a VIA KT133A chipset. Abit KT7A/RAID Although, there is an Asus board which has 2 DDR DIMM's and 3 SDR DIMM's. The A7A266 mobo is based on an ALiMAGiK chipset. It is good if you want to keep your SDRAM and later put in DDR RAM. Asus A7A266
