MS Expert Zone Featured Community Summit Pics

Recommended Posts

I'm at the MS Expert Zone Featured Community Summit 2004, and I'm taking pictures of all the cool stuff they are showing us. I believe there are two reps from Neowin.net, and I'm representing Bink.nu.

I'm uploading the pics basically right after I take them, so check back for new pics ;-).

Yeah, that was the Microsoft Museum section. I just uploaded two pics from the MSN Music presentation, and we all got 10 free song downloads :-).

Next, we're going to the Microsoft Home of the Future, then to the Microsoft Company Store, Microsoft Office of the Future, 727 Pine (Restarunt for dinner), and then to Gameworks (a little fun gaming :ninja:)

I really want to talk to neobond and Redmak, but I haven't gotten the opportunity to really say anything to them. I'm becomming good friends with some of the Tablet PC and Windows Mobile/Embedded MVPs that are here :-).

We saw some great stuff today that, unfortionatly, is NDA and I was unable to take pictures of.

Oh, and the trip to the Microsoft Store was fun.. it was like 20 kids in candy stores ;-).

I LOVED the shop. I picked up an XBox Media Center Extender for $70, an XBox Live Headset for $20, and two ($50/ea) games for $15/ea.

Oh, and not to mention before we went to dinner last night, they supprised us all with free Creative Zen Micro's... ooooh they are so nice ;-) (bye bye iPod )

Oh...my...god

How do you get to those conferences? A bit off topic I know but I finish school next year in the Summer and was just thinking about career possibilities n'stuff. Which one is this summit about? 'cause I know there's the CeBIT conference and a few others and I get confused.

Okay, uploaded pics from yesturday. Also added a pic of Neobond & Redmak having dinner on Day1.

I'd be happy to report that at that dinner, we talked about moving Neowin to ASP.NET  They see the benefits, but don't worry, I don't think I convinced them enough to really do it :-P. Oh, and I didn't get to see any Neowin 4.0 designs :-P (but I like 3.9 just fine :D)

    • Samsung messages is still alive and well. They reversed that and decided to our more effort into it.
    • I think every American should have a course in a 'dry sense of humour' at school; and perhaps 'using sarcasm in jest' oh, and also 'the use or irony in humour'.
    • What they really need to do is automatically spell "loses" and "lose" correctly since nobody seems to know how to anymore. Then they blame spellcheck/autocomplete and don't realize autocomplete is just filling in the word for them automatically so it was misspelled in the first place.
    • If someone chooses to continue using SB and therefore goes through the manual intervention in the thread, afterwards the BSOD problem is gone. Whether they then re-enable the task doesn't matter, they're done, though on such machines it might pay to keep it disabled in case the next update (if there is a next) causes the same problem. OTOH, if someone disables SB in the BIOS, the problem is also gone. Incidentally, I noticed that this task exists even on machines that don't support SB. It's just installed across the board...and runs. Doing what on such machines is a little hazy.
