PFDC - TEHRAN, Coming back from a knee injury, which prevented the goalgetter from participating in Iran's last two international games, Ali Daei finally marched into history, becoming the first player ever to score more than 100 international goals for his country, after hitting four on Laos to increase his goal-tally for Iran to 102.

Daei, who played his club football for Arminia Bielefeld, Bayern Munich and Hertha Berlin in Germany, making way for many other Iranian players to get contracts abroad due to his good performances, with no doubt is an exceptional player in World football.

The meanwhile 35-year-old with 133 international caps can name many reputated teams among his "victims". Saudi Arabia, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Ukraine and many others conceded goals by the AFC Player of the year 1999. But also big clubs like FC Chelsea, AC Milan or AS Roma were unable to prevent Ali Daei from scoring.

The current Saba Battery player already became the World's most successful national team goalscorer last year, passing Hungarian legend Puskas (84 goals) and Brazilian idol Pele (77 goals).

Daei's achievement did not remain unnoted by international media. The official site of AFC and FIFA's World Cup site praised the Iranian striker, as well as sport sources from all over the world announced the goalgetter's unique record.

However, Daei's work doesn't appear to be done yet. The Team Melli skipper will surely serve Iran in the final stage of AFC World Cup Qualifiers next year. If that will still be as starter, or as a luxury-substitute, remains to be seen.
