Firefox memory usage balloons up

I'm sure all of us have noticed that after a period of usage, especially with multple tabs open, Firefox's mem usage will 'balloon' up. Any solution to this?

My firefox memory usage almost never goes above 30 megs even with many tabs open.

Minimize and restore, repeat as needed. I'm not sure why it works but it does.

Minimizing the program will not fix that hahaha. It'll put it into the page file at best.

How much RAM do you people have? I have no problems with this. Have you tried tweaking the loading time of websites and the actual program?

512 megs. I shouldn't have to tweak anything to make it not eat close to 300 megs of ram. Most games don't use that much.

I havent tried this yet, but a guy from another forum said that he opened Firefox, left it there without using it (didnt visit any webbies, didnt open any tabs), and when he came after several hours the mem usage was more than 100MB.

With 256MB RAM here & 14 tabs open this is what I get.

This only happens to me if I use FireFox for an extended amount a time (not the amunt of tabs)

That's why I close my browser window every 2 ours or so - too keep the memory movin'

The same happens with Opera, but only when I open multiple tabs. And closing the tabs doesn't restore the original memory usage, just goes down 1 or 2mb.

Mine goes up from 25M in invervales of 2M per tab.
