Oh I've got plenty of memory. I can have Photoshop, Firefox, Diablo 2, trillian, foobar, steam, counterstrike, azureus etc all open and not even be at 70% usage. I just think it's kind of lame to see a browser using 100+ megs of ram, regardless of whether or not it affects my performance or not.

yep i goes over 100 megs for me sometime. also if i close main windows and only leave downloads open, then close them firefox stays in memory and i cannot get any windows open until i kill it (thats how i noticed then random memory usage...)

annoys me so much (right now by the way its at 78Meg - the usual size for it after i used it for a while)

its images that are being stored. I dont see why the heck people are bitching anyways even if firefox is using 200mb who cares...that will only happen for people with 512 or 1gig of ram anyways and its not like you dont have plenty to spare.

classic response from a fanboy that has become so inundated with firefox propaganda that he can't properly defend a claim against it.

really? please explain why you should give a crap if firefox is store images like you are telling it to...turn off the cache and set memory useage to 0 then if you want to bitch

and btw it is images dip****

type this in your address bar

Memory cache: 'about:cache?device=memory'

Disk cache: 'about:cache?device=disk'

If you have about 6 tabs open and FF uses around 50 MB, I don't think that's anything to whine about... try opening 6 instances of IE and see how many memory that uses!

I agree, more than 150 MB of RAM usage for a browser is ridiculous.

But most ppl here are whining about 50-75 MB for 5-10 tabs..

try opening that amount of instances in IE and have a look how much RAM that is!!

djeez

I'm currently at 4 tabs, 102k of ram and 5% cpu. All pages completely done being loaded and none containing flash etc.

Anyways, I'm going to try lowering the disk cache, but is there anyway to lower the memory cache size? I search about config for the word cache and only came up with a way to limit the disk cache, which I reduced to 20000.

    • WordArt was cool. We now have color fonts as a substitute although Word only supports COLRv0 and COLRv1 (Fraud OS 11 only). The OpenType SVG color font format needs to be supported by Office. Adobe's apps support it
