Recommended Posts

Here is the situation.

I havne't touched my PC since 1:00am and I didn't instal anything on it yesterday neither.

Today I boot-up and execute Firefox... and I get this error every time.

The browser never loads... but it keeps doing some background stuff... and uses a whole lot of my CPU time

I updated the java plug-in and re-instaled Firefox - but didn't work. I'll try some toher stuff before removing the plug-in and Firefox all together and do a clean install.

any ideas of what could be causing the problem??

thanx :D

Try Internet Explorer...

That is quite a wierd proposition :p

But seriously, best thing to do is to uninstall firefox, and then reinstall it, all your settings will be saved in that folder firefox makes (forgot where). If that doesnt work, then delete that folder (which I again forgot where)

well, thanx to everyone you posted inthis thread.

just informing that I've solved the issue. how you say??

I went to "C:\Documents and Settings\%user name%\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default.ey9" and looked for a file called "prefs.js".

Once in it, I started reading the whole thing (yes... boaring. but I'm a programmer - I like teadius things :p) and foun da line called "

user_pref("general.useragent.override", and it's settings where "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)"); .

I just removed this line - and problem fixed!

special thanx to Fotix and jayfromtaiwan for recomending me to check the user agent switcher.

The recovery was seccesfull and no data was lost :D
