Suggestion: Speak to staff only forum

Recommended Posts

What about a forum where threads could only be read by staff and the ORIGINAL poster, and doesnt increase post count?

Say I post something like [read down] it that forum, only me and staff (all the staff) could read it.

example:

Blahblah ty [modname] for doing blahblahblah action and blahblah

I think he is requesting a feature that would message all of the staff if he was uncertain of who to contact. Not sure if this is already an option.. PM to 'all staff'? That would generate too much spam. How about posting a sticky of the staff's roles and who to contact for what? (But that probably already exists.. I've never needed to do this and never checked if resource exists).

Oh, and when we say PM the staff, that means PM one member of staff who is online, or a member of staff in a specific area if that is what your question is about. We do not appreciate 20 staff getting the same PM. Then one mod gets it, they fix the issue, and 19 others are wondering what the heck is going on. PM one at a time. PMing all the staff is very annoying.

I think I've done that one time or to.

Lol I know I have done that, sucks to PM one and then go back to the index just to see that their name is gone, meaning they have been offline for the last 15 mins.:pinch:h:

I think a ticket system would be better...

Also with the ever increasing technical support neowin is providing these days you could use this company Right Now for your support... which would be a good idea but, not sure what the pricess are though...

PM's would more than suffice.

disagree, because u can't contact everyone @ the same time and if some1 has something personal against what u say, its not the same as having multiple moderators and admins looking it over and deciding...

also, there could be one part of that section where users can tell mods about a given topic that should be moved/edited/closed etc. faster than pms cuz mods could go there, see a link and check it out while a pm to a specifc mod or a reported post takes longer as the mod might b busy with 30 pms or is currently away.. this way, the mods that "currently aren't doing anything" could go there and see what users are reporting or wanting..

This is why we have a system in place. If a mod is out of line against you, you goto a super mod. If they can not handle the problem, you go to a supervisor and then upwards to admins. You can also mass PM, but there is no need for that, most of the time.

for example i think u and radish hate me :p

anyways, i think that 2 systems would be a good idea because they could work together, one filling in on the other's faults, nothing wrong with 2 systems

another idea is when u post, to have a list of mods/admins etc. and the sections they belong to with boxes for checkmarks... u check a box or leave it blank before u post your problem etc.

You are making this way more complicated than it has to be. This community is driven by the personal feel to it and the fact that we all seem to know each other. Just PM a mod to say what you need to say. The system you are proposing would wind up turning into a "kiss the staff's ass to become mod" and "flip out because I was dumb and broke the rules" forum. It's just much easier to PM as this proposed system wouldn't add much more to that.

On a personal note, I do dislike members, but all you have to do is ask. Since you brought it up, I am indifferent towards you. My attitude is often misconstrued as hate, but it is far from it.

    • AI is the justification that company administrators use to lay people off; it is not the end all, be all touted in the media (many of whom can't tell a microchip from a potato chip). Greed is main driving factor behind its adoption; the other is remaining relevant in the face of competition from other entities.
    • Firefox 152.0.2 is out with fixes for performance, translation, and cloud storage services by Taras Buria A new bug-fixing update is now rolling out to Firefox users in the Release Channel. Less than a week ago, Mozilla fixed crashes on Intel Raptor Lake processors with version 152.0.1. Now, Mozilla has prepared yet another set of fixes that address problems with localization, playback issues of certain MP4 files, and performance issues on website that perform various encryption operations at once. Here is the full changelog: Firefox 152.0.2 is now available for download from Mozilla's FTP. Existing installations will get the update over the next several hours. The latest version will also be available soon on the official website, the Microsoft Store, and Neowin's Software page. You can find Firefox 152.0.2 release notes in the official documentation. In case you missed it, Mozilla released Firefox 152 earlier this month. The latest feature update brought reworked settings with a more streamlined user interface, JPEG XL support, new features for Private mode, a new way to mute a tab (just type "mute" in the address bar), and many more. You can find the complete changelog here. In other Firefox news, Mozilla recently published its roadmap, where the company detailed the upcoming Nova redesign and other features it plans to implement. Mozilla wants to make the new user interface easier to navigate and more modern, with a heavy focus on its privacy tools, such as its built-in VPN.
