goheels681
I got these speakers for Christmas, and I have to say that I'm utterly amazed. I posted a thread about these earlier, and everyone pretty much told me that they were crap, and recommended teh X530's over these, which I had asked for, but I was given these instead. I thank them for doing so, these are amazing. (Sorry I couldn't get any unpacking shots, I was unpacking this new camera too :D) Sorry the links aren't parsed, ImageShack's being a bitch http://img56.exs.cx/img56/7933/00000241mx.jpg When I got them, the box was really dented in, but I assume that to be Crutchfield's fault, but it had no effect on the speakers (That I can tell) http://img146.exs.cx/img146/4452/00000256dw.jpg The front of the (dented) box does no justice to the thickness of the speakers.. I'm not sure what the symbols at the bottom right are. http://img146.exs.cx/img146/6557/00000276lz.jpg This is the right speaker, and the one with the 2 audio connections, AC, and left speaker outlet in the back. On the front, there's volume control and a headphone jack. The speakers themselves look amazing in person, though they're quite heavy. http://img146.exs.cx/img146/9894/00000287ey.jpg Left speaker. Same as the right (save al the crap in the back and headphone outputs and volume adjustment knob), but with a single cord coming out the back, and somewhat lighter. http://img146.exs.cx/img146/6429/00000290vu.jpg It comes with this cable, one almost identical to it with a minijack on one end (for computer hookup), and a AC plug. (One of the huge plugs too, so make room if you get it) http://img156.exs.cx/img156/6516/0000030large4cq.jpg About the thickness. This is what shocked me when I pulled them out of the box. You cant see it in most pictures from retailers. Just beware, if you have a desk that backs up to a wall (like I do), they'll have to stick out. I measured roughly 5 3/4" thickness. http://img156.exs.cx/img156/3323/00000313au.jpg This is the back of the right speaker. Disregarding the blurriness, the outlets are Left Speaker AC outlet Two sets of plugs for two audio cables http://img134.exs.cx/img134/455/00000320ka.jpg Glamour shot http://img134.exs.cx/img134/4117/00000333qf.jpg They're a wee deceitful in their advertising. They brag about being able to connect to another soruce, such as an mp3/cd player. They're right about another source, but if you want to use your mp3 player while it's plugged in (presumably what it's for, looking at the two sets of audio jacks), you have to unplug it to use the one with the minijack end. Luckily, we had an RCA/minijack cable to try this out with. Plugged one end to the 2nd set of jacks, and the minijack end to the headphone port on the iPod, and it worked fine. http://img134.exs.cx/img134/8868/00000341dn.th.jpg All the other crap in the box Cranking these up is awesome! iPod on full blast, and the speakers on about 2/3 the way up, you can hear it crystal clear over 50 feet away, through walls! Also, I was scared of having a lack of bass, but these are perfect, like having an invisible subwoofer. It's a big step up from Dell's stock harman/kardon speakers. The only problem I had was connecting them. I'm not as tech savvy as many of you, but the average person may have trouble hooking them up. It tells you to plug them into the audio out jack on the sound card, but it doesn't go any further. Rating: 9/10 Pros -Bass -Great Sounding -Reasonable price ($99) Cons -Short cimputer-to-speaker cord -Could've-been-written-by-a-5-year-old instructions That's it. I would highly recommend these. Don't trust the people on the forum :D. They were talking about how they suck, but I would like to disagree. People are weird. I know from experience, Bose is one of the best companies around for sound related products. Top quality stuff. (Y)
mmm
Ive never been a big fan of bose speakers but whats important isnt what others think of your speakers. If youre happy with them and they sound good to you then thats all that really matters.
paulhaskew
interesting that they gave you the radioshack style RCA cables... :) Though I do know they sound nice, my dad has them... I like my surround sound of my Logi speakers, but they are great for stereo use...
