[Suggestion] Neowin Blogs....

Then don't read it. WOW EUREKA!

well, considering the fact that many people feel the same way and also considering the fact that there are so many blog services around it seems pointless to have a neowin blog system.

OT:You;ve become really grumpy lately steven, perhaps you should try and get into the holiday spirit?

Well, I still think it wouldn't be worth the effort. There are much better options out there for blogging and a community, such as this one, I presume would be more interested in personal webspace than a generic blog.

yeah, webspace sounds like a plan :woot: id pay for the ability to upload pics and themes etc

its pretty easy just to say that but maybe instead of writing in a post how about you donate some money for the server or think before you speak?

Never said I wouldn't donate money and I did think before I speaked...oh wait...isn't this typing. ;)

not a bad idea...i wouldn't use it since i have my own site, but it does seem like a pretty nice feature...

Doesnt' work. gives a PHP error.

ANyway, here's my $.02 worth

Blogs are great, err. meant amazing. It's cool to know not only about other's life but they might come across different sites that one can miss. after all, the web is too big but it can become smaller if there is a bigger blogging community. for one, i know that i maintain a blog and webspace so an idea of a webspace as suggested by bangbang seems more appealing than anything. premium members can pay more for more space. blogs are pretty cool when seen properly.

For all those who think blogs are a waste of time, please see the following(that I visit normally)

My Site (self-promotion time :D)

I think it would be a huge hit. Not only do I think that, I think that Neowin could make money off of it. Like maby http://blogs.neowin.net/members/<insert name here>. And make it available to be bought for a small amount of money, which intern pays for everything what is needed for the service. So its a win win situation :).

  so are most of the posts on the forums...your point?

585171748[/snapback]

u just answered the point, by adding the blog system will add more emo to the site at which it already has.. which in the end will result in every account registration u get a free razor blade! and a corner to cry in

Imo it would probably place more stress on the server over time, considering the number of hits most blogs tend to get, your just adding to the server load. Granted.. most blogs arent going to be massive hits and your not going to have a thousand hits per day, but more people will come to see that blog, people that may have never come to neowin otherwise.

(mind you that could be a positive or a negative)

Limiting it to subscribers might be an option, however I still forsee some problems.

this is my rational, flawed or not. *drops 2c into the jar*

Yeah, Neowin already has enough traffic so in short...hmm....NO?!?!

    • If someone chooses to continue using SB and therefore goes through the manual intervention in the thread, afterwards the BSOD problem is gone. Whether they then re-enable the task doesn't matter, they're done, though on such machines it might pay to keep it disabled in case the next update (if there is a next) causes the same problem. OTOH, if someone disables SB in the BIOS, the problem is also gone. Incidentally, I noticed that this task exists even on machines that don't support SB. It's just installed across the board...and runs. Doing what on such machines is a little hazy.
