A friend gave me a CD a few weeks ago which had windows xp service pack 2, latest patches and a few programs already installed. I was very surprised because i didnt think it was possible to even install "custom" programs and so on.

I looked up alot of information on how to do a CD like this on my own and i ended up on this great forum. I have downloaded various programs to do this. However ive ran into a few problems. Im not sure how to create a custom program to be installed with AutoPatcher, couldnt find much help on this issue at all. I downloaded a few modules already made and checked them out to see how they were configured.

The programs, like WinRar, do you really haveto have registry information and all other things to be able to even install this? Is there any way to test the program without having to reinstall windows, just to see if its working. The last part of the module the "Installation" part it says: With Backups: "Module:\Firefox.exe" -ms , can this be used with every other program i want to install?

I forgot to add that im a complete newbie at this. The registry keys, how do you find them in the first place, to make these installs :|

I wish a tutorial is being made in the future, for us newbies.

I downloaded a module someone else had made but i get this error: Module Panic on Mozilla Firefox 1.0.7! You are running Windows XP Professional SP2 (Locale 1033) + IE6 | Parent and/or Prerequsite item missing?

Tried figure out how to make my own module so downloaded this one to get the hang of it. The problem is i cant get it to run :|. Would like to know if its even possible to add your OWN programs to install, while installing windows. Programs like mIRC, winzip, divx codecs and so on.

The CD i got is probably made using AutoPatcher, i just wonder how the heck he even made all the stuff on this CD!

Take a look here and download the Stand-Alone.zip.

I\m facing some stupid error for my new addons.

I've updated the UPH and the .net20 addons. When installing them the progress goes up to 95% then stucks and nothing happens. I have to kill the process to get back to windows.

Any idea why this is happening?

AP's been having some weird problem with localised Windows, and with Windows that has previously installed AP, so , put localisation to eng(united states) and del previous AP..., if that doesn't help, some of more experienced members will have to help you with that *|(usually format-install win resolves most of the problems :D if you're not to lazy, or in the middle of some project )

Thanks. I'm testing my modules on a fresh xp install under vmware so undo is easy.

I see now that AP really has some problems running on localized versions of the OS, which really is a shame :(

But i love it anyway:)

Hopefully ap6 will get rid of these problems.

I have made some modules for 7-zip 4.32. I made one for the regular and the x64 versions. The links are below:

regular: http://rapidshare.de/files/9576945/7zip.zip.html

x64: http://rapidshare.de/files/9577203/7zip_x64.zip.html

Could someone (gandolas, blaze, raptor) please make these official?

Thanks,

Thank you .

No problem.

A suggestion for any future modules. Include the STAND-ALONE parent module as When it is in that category, I get a module panic. If it's it's own section, there is no problem. Or, maybe an idea for next months AutoPatcher to include a Standalone folder (empty, of course).

@Massimiliano2,

Either the module is just packed up into a zip file, or a .amp file containing the module is included in the zip file (can't upload .amp's to most places because its unreconnized).

Note an .amp file is really just a renamed .zip file!

If the module is just packed in a zip file, either:

1) extract the files to c:\program files\autopatcher\modules

2) rename to .amp, and either run autopatcher up to the selection page or use module installer.exe to unpack it.

If its a .amp in a .zip, extract it from the .zip, and then do one of the above.

I'm here, and after?

I've a problem with module 7-zip, error in key 35602 or similar.

Other steps to follow?

@Massimiliano2,

ah, thats because the parent module hasnt been included for some reason.

- download the attachment, extract the zipped files to c:\program files\autopatcher\modules.

- copy the 7zip module to the new 'stand_alone_mods' folder.

- edit the 7zip modules parent ID to 'STAND_ALONE_ENU'. yes this will mke it unofficial, but thats the fault of the module author, and hopefully they will fix it in future.

1) in future, all stand-alone modules must use the attached stand_alone_enu.amc parent module, and include it with the module (you can make a translated copy if you need too).

2) you should also use 'STAND_ALONE_ENU' as the parent ID.

3) you should also place the module itself inside the 'stand_alone_mods' folder included.

    • LOL. Can't even quote and edit a comment correctly. Figures you're a Linux user.
    • I have disabled it, but the app is still taking space. I have a Mac and it is only possible to disable Ai on that, but I think that bit does get rid of the AI components after a while. What we are told is that we agree to all this when we use the devices as it is in the end user agreements, their software, they can do what they like. I doubt that any bill will happen in the U.S, the government there are in league with big tech firms. The E.U maybe, they seem to have some guts when it comes to tech companies. The U.K is not in the E.U, but some things still affect us. Our government is as gutless when it comes to tech companies as the U.s government.
