I was just curious just because I see a lot of screen shots in this thread with text-less icons. The thing is, I want it to say "iMac G5" inside Finder windows/save dialouges/etc. - but just not on the desktop.

edit: I could make an alias for my hard disk icon, except that it'll look bad on the desktop with the arrow IMO, and the shots in this thread do not look like aliases, they look like the real thing.

You could use DragThing (www.dragthing.com) to achieve that. Just make a dock that has an invisible background. Try the app out. It takes some getting used to but I think you'll get the hang of it after tinkering with it for a while. There are quite a few options to play with and it can be hard to find the correct options the first time you open up the app.

Hi, I am a new Mac user, just got my macbook :)

Im not sure if it has been asked before (sorry if it has)

But I have seen a few screenshots with itunes album art on the desktop like these:

How do I get the artwork on the desktop like that?

I also found this screenshot with different times for different timezones shown above the dock, anyone able to tell me how I can get that?

lol why is it your problem bud? for your info i was excited that i was getting a MacBook the next day. Its a bit sad that you need to point things out like that to get attention...:)

What's more sad is that he had to view the fullsize shot to pick up on the iBook res to make his useless comment when it was "blatantly" obvious that you were on a PPC iBook due to the theme applied....

Yeah, that's sad, when someone hasn't wasted enough of their life to know exactly what GUI skins are for Intel or PPC
