Apple to release office suite: iWorks '05

Recommended Posts

Eh, it's not bad. I used only the Word 2000 component until 2002, when I got a copy of Office 2000.

And let's lay off the dollar signs! :o

They include Word 2002 in Works 2004??? IIRC, there never was an Office 2002, so it seems odd they'd make one to put in Works 04

No, he was saying he used Word 2000 (Standalone), up until 2002 when he bought the full Office 2000 suite...

Well thats' how i read it.

The screenshot from dell up there shows Office 2002 in Works 2004. I just find it odd that they either A)made a version of Word specifically for a version of Works and gave thme differing year "names, or B)Renamed Word XP to 2002 and then included it in Works 2004

Oh well, its M$ so I guess its quite typical.

I think they just included an older version of Word (version 2002) in Works (version 2004?).

Anyway stop hating on Microsoft. That money they got from "lying, cheating ,and stealing" - 4g3nt_Smith, is going to the tsunami victims.

Sweet! Awesome news! I currently use OpenOffice since there is no way you are going to get me to install any form of Microsoft on my Mac.

Only problem is that is requires 10.3. Why do they insist on making all new Mac products require 10.3? I'm still on 10.2 and don't feel the need to upgrade. Eh, maybe I'll upgrade to Tiger when it comes out.

Dont' you just love how these Apple threads [tend to] turn into Apple vs. Microsoft flame wars? Yeah. It's so great to see how cruel people can be online.

I think its a side-affect of being on a board called NeoWIN and being surrounded by rabid M$ fanboys. Just my $.02

So why do you post here then? :) Just wondering!

Anyways this iWorks thing makes me REALLY want to get an iBook in 2005... all the new stuff: new OS, new lifestyle suite, new office/work suite, I'm lovin' this! :D

But hey: Does Keynote have some way to burn presentations on a CD-R or whatever that will play on a Windows PC? If it's better than PowerPoint I'd like to be able to use it for school, maybe, if I would possibly need to... :-/

Let me guess, you're un-biased?

Probably moreso than most. Having used Windows since I was 4 (12 years for those who case) and having just switched, I probably have a better view than 80+% of the board, who most likey swears by Billy G. and Windoze.

I've owned two Ibook's for the last year. I own an Ipod and I dislike it when people actually pray for an "Ipod killer". My Windows XP desktop looks like a mac desktop and I dislike Internet Explorer.

I think you should re-word your reply. :D

You can export to PowerPoint format. You *may* be able to export to a QuickTime video, but I don't believe so.

I think Apple should do with OpenOffice.org for their Office Suite what they did with KHTML for Safari.

It's an excellent codebase to start from and has a standardized file-format (the new OASIS standard that will be in OpenOffice.org 2.0, and backported to OpenOffice.org 1.1.5 eventually)

Before this thread gets locked because we have people who can't keep their noses out of Microsoft's arse long enough to notice that apple makes some bitchin software.

Even though I, myself don't own a macintosh I support apple on taking MS office. If Apple decides to go ahead and release their office app to the x86 platform i'll most likely be into buying it. I use open office as of right now, and I adore it.

As for the "I stuff" I think the iLifestyle is pretty cool marketing idea. All this windows user has to say is good for apple. The more competition the better. If others can't see that, then, well I hope they like paying for overpriced MS products. Because I sure don't.

I haven't used an apple since clarisworks for the Mac OS 8&9. That owned. =)

to be fair the ms mac bu dont try to make ports...

word 2004 feels "native" because it IS native. i believe the mac bu team will continue to create great "mac software" not "microsoft software"

once this "headless" imac comes out i think i may buy a mac... if its small that is ( i'm a sff fan ). shove another monitor on my desk :/ dont think i'll ever have the tri mon setup for my pc i want.

    • WTF! Nah, not this one. If you were back then using computers in the 90s or you had a clue, you'd know this was huge and was seen and overused absolutely everywhere and you'd take this article as no more than a retrospective story. That's all it is.
    • these "editors" get paid by the amount of articles and not the quality of content; hence why we get this random stuff from the same "editor" time and time again.
    • 256 times the quality of an audio cd? I think audio cd's sound good so even twice as good as that would be something.
    • It’s not about the NOx. It’s about the electrical field.
