h3xis
just upgraded to fc3 and changed the permissions to allow me to run kppp without entering the root password each time i start it. well...this has always worked in past fedora versions except core 3. kppp will start but before it does it gives me a message saying "you don't have sufficient permissions to run /usr/sbin/pppd please make sure that kppp is owned by root and has the SUID bit set." so i gave myself permission to run pppd as well...but still got the same message. anyone know how to get around this? rezza Veteran Posted January 7, 2005 Veteran Share Posted January 7, 2005 Instead of giving your user permissions to run kppp and pppd, try just chmodding a+s kppp instead (setuid root). This means your normal user can run it, but when it runs it will run with root priveliges, so it can handle pppd properly.
