New iPod Shuffle, No colors?

Recommended Posts

well i have heard that they will be releasing a new remote with a screen on it (or is one already off, i dont use remotes) but who knows, perhaps they will include that with the shuffle.  I have read a bit more bout it, and i have to say, i really like this, the only thing is, no ****ing screen!  i mean its not a bad little player, kind of reminds me of the muvo which was popular if memory serves me right (sometimes it doesnt so dont get smart with me if im wrong, lol).  I wouldnt get one, i have way too much music and i love my U2 iPod, but for someone who has much less volume of music and needs a nice little player this is perfect.  Also it doesnt skip (even though i ahvent encountered my ipod skipping at all)!  this thing is perfect for gym people and im pleased with it, not thrilled, but pleased.  Remember, this is aimed for a person with not too much music.  This is perfect i think, just no screen!  Ill give it a B but i need to use it first to get a good feel for it.  but i wont get one, ill stick with 4g ipod.

Anyone have the slightest clue as to how the controls work, im a bit confused, its not a click wheel is it?

no way it's going to have remote control, notice there is only audio output?

Its basically a USB key that can play music - aka, I want it now. That's a big reason why I already ordered one - I needed a large usb key, and why not get one that I can listen to my music also. I think this will be an enormous seller as there are so many people for whom the iPod is out of their price range, and now they can get one.

so?  what i meant was a remote that has an audio cable that connects to the iPod to the remote and then the phones go  in at the top of the remote, sort of like an update of the current apple remote.

the thing is, you need a speical connector right beside the audio out for the remote to work

I was gonna get one for my sister, but its battery life outraged me again.

The similar product from iRiver (with FM tuner, voice recorder and LCD screen) has 40 hours of battery life, whereas iPod Shuffle has 12 hours of battery life.

But it will sell, because it's SUPER COOL!!!!!

Xtreme $niper/  (Y)

Does anybody here remember when sonys MiniDisc players came out?Now that was the ****! I was ****ed when they didnt sell well. Why? I think back then there still wasnt enough music going around the net or services that offered it for people to put on the discs. It also was a hassle.I had one of the old old ones which i still got where you had to use a line in jack to put music on it.Wanna talk about a music lover.I used to load up my CD player play a song on it connect the line out to the line in and record.A few years later they came out with the USB ones.I bought it and was really happy.Thing was their software was buggy. But the best was the ability to rename songs.

So what am i getting at here?Well these MiniDisc players had a small screen on the front of it.Mostly for battery life indication and display of what button you pressed.Well they came out with a remote that had a bit wider LCD display which i loved because of ease and you could see the song name scrolling across the display. It also had like this thing at the top that turned and when u turned it left it went back to the beginning of the song.If you clicked back twice it went back a song.If you clicked it foward it went on to the next song.I wish i had a digital camera to remind you all of the good ol days. One of the best things was that the remote also worked for any sony product that had this jack.I have an old CD player that had the jack before the remote was even made. The CD player has to be about 5 or 6 years old at the LEAST.

I have a remote for my 3rd gen 20gb iPod.But i dont like it.When i have a full 20gb of music and a growing collection i need a screen to at least show me the name of the song.I hate my iPod because of ONE reason. The weight.Sure its not heavy for its amount but i still think its heavy and i hate having this bulky thing in my pocket.

So to enlighten you all here is a little picture...

REMOTES-SONY-RM-MC11EL-2.jpg

PS.Sonys minidisc technology was revised and is now serving for the PSP.So i guess i cant say it was a total waste developing the MiniDisc Players.

Personally I think it would've made ALOT of sense if they'd even included a small screen that resembled the "faux" LCD in the top of the iTunes window. It would've just been cool to have that same sort of interface, and to be able to hold it up to my monitor next to that window and look back and forth between the two and just giggle... I mean I don't giggle *cough* anyways *shifty, bright white light* How'd you like the circus? (<<thinly veild family guy reference)

anyways ya... simple iTunes style screen would've been great.

Oh and is it just me or hasn't the Shuffle feature been on music players since the advent of the CD?... Typical Apple (not bashing, I like some of their stuff), repackage and rename something and suddenly it's revolutionary.

Ha but remember that iPod Shuffle has a built-in rechargable battery!! The iRiver works on a AAA battery!

You forgot to mention the price .. how convenient

iRiver iFP 900 512MB - $249.99

iPod Shuffle 512MB - $99

That should put things in better perpespective.

Oh, I didn't realize that.

Thanks for clarification!

Don't get me wrong but a Trascend Jetflash with 512 MB memory will beat it, it has a display too, supports mp3 & WMA, ok, it's not an iPod, but then again, Apple has to worry against the flash based mp3 players in the asian market, where trascend & samsung are already all the rage, they can also be used as a Pen drive

A prediction !

I dont think Apple worries too much about sales in asian market, most of their sales is N America, UK & Australia followed by Japan. One thing you are right about is that Apple is late to the flash market, so probably others have a much better market share as of now.

they can also be used as a Pen drive

585277847[/snapback]

Wow  iPod shuffle can also be used as a "Pen drive".

I smell a Nvidia fanboy in the vicinity...

What is with all this people will buy it because its Apple? The only thing of Apple's people buy are ipods - with all of the hype around their new software and tiger, it's still such a low market share of computers overall that what they do doesn't influence most people's buying decesions.

And seriously, can we cut out the intense shuffle bashing? It's a new product that has pros and cons, like anything, and people jump to one side or another solely based on their feelings towards Apple and not towardds the product itself.

The lack of screen kills it for me. If it had a screen, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. No screen=no thanks.

may be true for some, but think about what most people already do with every other mp3 player: set it to a playlist and slip it in their pocket. do you really need a screen for that?

I'm still debating it. My 40GB iPod spends 99% of it's time in my pocket, the other 1% is choosing the same playlist/album that I have done for the past week. I don't see why I wouldn't instead just Autofill the shuffle with songs I love and hit play. That's what I do most of the time.

Still, I can't help but feeling that people are going to see the lack of screen as a major downfall compared to other players.

yea, apple has a little accessory that you pop a couple aaa's into and it powers it for up to 20 hours on those.

one thing to remember, and i don't know if it's been mentioned, but the shuffle can't play alac (apple lossless) files.

    • It's about to become harder to turn off your Samsung TV, thanks to Instagram by Aditya Tiwari Meta announced that its Instagram for TV app has arrived on Samsung TVs in the US as part of its latest expansion, giving users one more way to scroll through Reels. The social media giant often comes under scrutiny for the "addictiveness" of its features, which leads people to spend excessive time on the platform. Interestingly, Instagram boss Adam Mosseri described spending 16 hours on the platform as "problematic use" but not "clinical addiction." Mosseri also compared scrolling on Instagram to binge-watching a show on Netflix. Instagram for TV is now available on Samsung TV models released in 2020 or later. The app is already available on Amazon Fire TV and Google TV in the US, which together account for the majority of connected TV devices. The company said it will test several new features to improve the living room and family experience while using Instagram on the big screen. Watching vertical videos on a big screen isn't something many would be excited about. Probably that's why Meta is testing a dedicated home for horizontal videos. Creators will get the opportunity to design content for TV screens and get more ways to reach audiences, according to Meta. If you found an interesting Reel while doomscrolling on your phone, you'll be able to cast it to your TV. The feature is available for testing on Instagram for TV on Google TV and Amazon Fire TV, and it will also support videos from the Saved tab. Instagram for TV will be testing Channels organized around user interests, across genres such as comedy and sports, as well as content from favorite creators. Moreover, you can watch Stories on your TV. While Instagram is known for short-form videos, it's knocking on more doors to keep the audience hooked. The company said it's exploring new content formats for the big screen, including long-form creator content to cover topics in detail, episodic series to build suspense across multiple episodes, and creator live sessions on TV. All of the new updates put Instagram in competition with established giants like YouTube (and Netflix), which already have a robust presence on the big screen. In recent updates, Instagram added the ability to write an individual caption for each carousel image, manually re-order posts, and a paid version of the app.
    • I know RAM and storage prices are high right now, but I think it would have been better to have 1TB as the base level storage, especially as it's supposed to be for gaming. Plus a 2.5gbe ethernet port rather than only 1gbe.
    • I have installed the debloated version of Windows 11 25H2 Pro. I obtained the apps from store.rg-adguard.net. The size of the Photos app window is quite problematic for me; it consistently displays in a 16:9 aspect ratio, resembling a movie theatre screen, and cant remeber its last size and position. The Snipping Tool cannot capture the taskbar. When I select "Window" in capture mode, it allows me to capture menus or individual windows, but I am unable to capture just the taskbar. This functionality was available in version 24! I am on the same version numbers (latesst).
    • I'm already seeing my steam library, still swallowing the 16 Gb of RAM, then looking at the SD storage expansion and saying "what?".
