i don't know about india/asia, but here in america, where apple is located, the price is very nice; most 512mb players come in between $100 and $150, 1gb is even more. the ipod is no ripoff.

what about with the dock?

The iPod shuffle Dock is an elegant home base for charging and synching with your computer. Simply plug the dock into the USB port on your computer or the optional iPod USB Power Adapter to get started.

Supports iPod shuffle.

i think the best flashed based mp3 players are the Nomad Muvo NX/TX players. They are just like a thumb drive, with a screen that hook up to a battery thing. I think they are amazing, and you don't need to cary around a flash drive as well. I am thinkin of getting one of the 512mb players, awesome awesome awesome. Those iPod flash things look like crap.

if u see wht rio gives ( adapter charging + lcd screen + 500 mb space more + double battery time + other cord )

this is classic rip off

This is going to be fun...

Remember 1GB does not hold many (hundreds) of songs

240 is the number stated by Apple. 239 clicks away from that song!

iPod was never cool in your eyes and it will never be. I'd suggest you stop trolling all the iPod threads.

Maybe I do tend to "troll" the iPod threads, but then I don't troll them without anything to back up my differing opinions - such as the evidence of better products. But whatever, go buy 20 Tampods, after all - you'll be a member of Jobs' brigade of heroes. XtremeSniper's image summed it all up really. So...

goyou-vi_640.gif

well i have heard that they will be releasing a new remote with a screen on it (or is one already off, i dont use remotes)

Wow - that'll be another ?30 into Apple's pocket. Why can't they provide these accessories as stanard, a la iRiver?

But it will sell, because it's SUPER COOL!!!!!

Or will it. Will the public REALLY be this duped by the colour and label - or will it fall flat on its face, like the iPod Photo?

Its ashame that you cant be more open minded and stop being such a lil **** ant, heh. Is it really that hard to make an educated opinion without interjecting your stereotypes ever other word. Its really pathetic. Look this product is meant for some people and not others. Go with your iRiver, no one is stopping you. People may want the shuffle or a regular but that doesnt make them bad people, its a difference of opinion. I bet that if this was a creative product or soemthing else, you wouldnt open your mouth and perhaps even be praising it, but because its apple, that makes it evil and something bad. Get over it and accept that people have different needs and opinions.

I really like the shuffle, for 120-240 songs, you really dont need a screen. I have a g3 10gb iPod already, but I would have gone for one of these if I didn't.

When using my iPod, I almost always just select a playlist and press play. I dont care about the order.

The shuffle does just this, but you have to select the playlist on your computer, not on the device. Seems like a good idea to me.

I have absolutely nothing against Apple, its the iPod and it's legendary status that p*sses me off. I dont see where my stereotypes come into it - as far as the WORLD can see they're true. Apple reported 525% increase in iPod sales - tell me: is it just coincidence or has the mass-hype provided by the media caused a "little" boost in sales.

Once a thing of grace and coolness, the iPod now rests in the world of burberry and shell suits

And don't deny it - the iPod Photo was a failure!

Many share the same view as me, but hell I went ahead and said it.

So you believe everything listed on Apple's website. Gimme a break. You also believe that their G5's performance figures. hah  OWNED.

I know a lot of people here @ Neowin have iRiver players and love it. They dont go on trolling in every iPod thread like you. Maybe the mods should take this issue up.

That's where I stopped reading that pathetic excuse for a post

585281217

Seriously, he trolls in EVERY iPod thread.

I have absolutely nothing against Apple, its the iPod and it's legendary status that p*sses me off.

585282447

And hence you troll in EVERY iPod thread.

And don't deny it - the iPod Photo was a failure!

585282447

failure ? Granted it is not selling like hotcakes but is that what Apple intended when they set it a pricetag of $499. I think your take is ... Many people can afford $499 and hence it will should sell like hotcakes.

Many share the same view as me, but hell I went ahead and said it.

585282447

No, many people might share the same view with you but nobody's ****ed off like you and goes on trolling here.

I've been playing with this ipod shuffle for about an hour now; at first I was skeptical because of the lack of display, the emphasis on 'random' play, and the overly simplistic design (this thing is really just a plastic flash keychain all ipodded up). But now I understand- your musical interface is basically invisible and there are no decisions to make. By the way- floods of people were streaming in as I left the Apple store and several employees at the door were handing out shuffles from boxes by the dozens. People were buying 3, 4, 5 of these things at a time. Amazing what a brand can make people do.

i completely love the ipod shuffle. i love how it has no screen. that's probably the best part. the screen would probably take hours off of the battery life. And I love the simplicity of it. There are not many switches or buttons, and you can autofill your ipod and set it on shuffle. I love how light and small it is and how apple is moving this towards its "sport" ipod. i think i may just get one for myself for athletic purposes and use my 3g ipod for non-athletic stuff. 2 thumbs up on my view.

I just ordered an iPod shuffle and an iPod shuffle AAA battery extender. I couldn't resist the size (1 cubic inch), the software (iTunes is the best), and the iTunes Music Store support (I got some iTMS songs for Christmas). Plus, with the AAA battery extender I now have a total rated battery life of 32 hours. :)

    • ExplorerPatcher 26100.8457.70.3 by Razvan Serea ExplorerPatcher is a versatile and free tool that allows you to tweak and enhance the Windows Explorer. It comes with a range of useful features, including the ability to add new context menu items, change file name colors, and enable hidden features. Feature summary Choose between Windows 11 or Windows 10 taskbar (with labels support, small icons and lots of customization). Disable Windows 11 context menu and command bar in File Explorer and more. Open Start to All apps by default, choose number of frequent apps to show, display on active monitor and more. Choose between the Windows 11, Windows 10 and Windows NT Alt-Tab window switcher with customization. Lots of quality of life improvements for the shell, like: Skin tray menus to match Windows style, make them behave like flyouts and center them relative to the icon. Choose action when left and/or right clicking the network icon. Revert to the Windows 7 search box in File Explorer, or disable Windows Search altogether. Disable immersive menus and use mitigations that help you run the real classic theme without glitches. Discover the program's full range of features by reading this wiki article. ExplorerPatcher 26100.8457.70.3 changelog: Tested on OS builds 22621.4317, 22631.7079, 26100.6899, 26100.8037, 26200.8246, 26200.8457, 26300.8493, and 28000.2113. TIP: Windows Defender no longer flags ExplorerPatcher. It is no longer needed to configure Defender exclusions. Enjoy! Important Update for Windows Insider Users If you're running Windows 11 Beta build 26220.8474 or Experimental build 26300.8493, updating ExplorerPatcher is highly recommended. Microsoft has removed parts of the old Windows 10 Start menu from these builds, which caused ExplorerPatcher's Windows 10-style taskbar and Start menu to crash. This update fixes those issues and ensures Explorer starts correctly after future Windows updates. Because the required components are no longer included in Windows, the Windows 10 Start menu option has been disabled on these builds and future builds that lack the necessary files. A temporary workaround is to replace StartTileData.dll with a version from build 26xxx.8457, but this solution may stop working in future releases. The good news: development on the Windows 10 Start menu isn't over yet. More updates are planned. Highlights Fixed crashes affecting the Windows 10 battery flyout on Windows builds 25951 and newer. As part of that fix, network flyout buttons now behave like they did before Windows 11 version 24H2. Changes to the Primary taskbar location on screen setting now apply instantly without requiring a restart. ExplorerPatcher no longer modifies Windows 11 taskbar auto-hide settings when Explorer starts. The Open Start in All apps by default option is now hidden when the new Windows 11 Start menu is enabled. Fixed Windows 10 Start menu crashes on very early Windows 11 builds (21996–22000.51). Fixed a crash in Registry Editor when switching to thumbnail view during registry import/export operations. Improved compatibility with recent Windows builds, especially ARM64 and upcoming 26H1 releases. Improved overall ARM64 performance. Added Greek language translations. Thanks to @KonVetsos! ep_taskbar Improvements ep_taskbar now supports all 43 Windows 11 display languages. Fixed several issues in the system tray and other taskbar components. For mod developers: DLL naming has been simplified and made easier to understand. For mod developers: internal TrayUI changes provide better stability across Windows builds that use different taskbar implementations. Windows 10 Start Menu Improvements To help preserve compatibility, ExplorerPatcher now includes a newly recreated version of the tile layout engine that Microsoft removed in build 26xxx.8474. Current limitations: Tiles may occasionally overlap when pinned in certain ways. Restarting StartMenuExperienceHost.exe or Explorer usually corrects the layout. Further improvements are planned. Additional Fixes Added a blacklist that prevents ExplorerPatcher's shell extension from loading inside specific applications where it may cause problems. Updated Windows 10 Start menu animation support for newer ARM64 Insider builds. Fixed a rare taskbar initialization deadlock that could occur during startup. Start10 Updates Addressed a new compatibility issue caused by Microsoft's ongoing removal of tablet mode code in Windows 11 25H2 Experimental builds. Pinned tiles are no longer reset after repeated crashes. Various wording and interface text improvements throughout the application. Translation and UI Several interface strings have been cleaned up and clarified. Thanks to @sefinek for wording improvements. Please consult the README for more details.
