What do you drive?

I don't think there's a single insurance company in the UK that'll insure you anything over a 4cylinder anyway.

Insurance for me, third party only (not including fire or theft) at 17 with full pass plus (an extra thing you can do in the uk, teaches you some extra driving skills) on a 1.6l engine would cost ~?3000 a year. Once I've shelled out ?1000 for my lessons, ?1000 for a car that's ?5000 , or $8,700 USD.

It's mental. I don't need a car because public transport where I live happens to be very good, I just want :pe :p

holy **** ^

driver education class:

- @ school = Free (1 semester long)

- outside = ~$100 - $200 (3 days long)

driver training: (under age 18)

- @ school = cheaper ~$100 (sometimes free)

- outside = ~$150 (sometimes cheaper if you get the driver education and training combo)

Driving Test:

- $24 for your license (if you pass)

$400 AT MOST!!

insurance.. two cars, full coverage.. multiple car discount, good driver discount, and good student discount = $1,500/Year

^Nice, here driving lessons are ?20 an hour average. My brother managed to find his for ?18 an hour, but only because he happened to slightly know the guy.

I just took the ?1000 as how I'm going to get mine done, by buying in bulk, so I'm essentially hiring the guy for a week to teach me to drive. It's an intensive course where you learn to drive and take your test all within the week. Tests here cost ?50, I don't know about tax and MOT, I should imagine they add up to about ?400.

I suppose if you really went with the bare minimum you could get the tests down to ?400, grab a car from ebay for ~?300, but insurance would still be ~?2000 once you've payed tax and mot that's ?3000, $5,220 USD.

^ Thanks jax, I was merely guessing by what I'd heard, tried to figure out myself.

Another thing you have to factor in is petrol, in the UK we pay ~97p per litre.

1 litre = 0.22 gallons

10litres = 2.2 gallons

10 litres = ?9.70

10 litres = 16.8810 USD

Just realised, you work in gallons over there. Erm......you can work it out.

10L/9.70 = $16.83 USD

or

6.37 per gallon wow

^otherwise known as the pontiac GTO in the states.. i really dislike that car for some reason, i think its the way the rear side looks.. its so fat and makes the tires real tiny.. just looks weak :/

I 3rd that.

Everywhere you go in Australia now you see these.

I just reckon they are too common and don't have any personality.

I drive a Mitsubishi Outlander VR-X 4WD.

Decided to take a pic of all the cars we own... - and grand prix.

Yeah.. they are all dirty. Its the middle of winter... and I took it from inside... because its 8F outside. Burr.

The white one is a 95 Chrysler LHS. Good car aside for some transmission problems. Those are getting fixed right now. The LHS has a 3.5L v6 making around 215 HP and 220 lbs of torque. Has some nice passing punch... but its more of an old luxury car than a speed demon. Its got a moonroof, leather, and I completely re did the system. New speakers and subs. It has two 2-way speakers in the front doors.. 3 tweeters in the dash... 2 5-way speakers for 6x9's... and 2 10inch 10w3v2d2 JL subs. Sounds alright... but no sound system is ever perfect and I'm always working on it.

The red car is a 02 Oldsmobile Alero. It's got a 2.2L I4 Ecotec engine... it used to be my car. But my bro got that when I bought the LHS. He's done a couple of mods to it... I don't know the whole list. Most notable is a CAI and new exhaust (not a fart can one... I'd be ****ed if he did that). It does have some nice pep now and sounds pretty cool with the CAI. I do miss that car... Its so much easier to drive then the tank I have now. We took it out to the track awhile back for ****s and giggles and it did the 1/4 in about 15 seconds... was defiantly under 16. I don't have the time slips with me to get the exact number.

And lastly the green thing is our Family van. A 95' Ford Windstar. Also known as the Loser Cruiser. 3.8L v6. Making about 210 HP. The thing sounds pretty sweet for being a van. People say "at least it sounds fast" lol. The thing has 160,000 miles on it.. has been to three trips to Florida... and its starting to have some issues.. but what do you expect for 160,000 miles.

Not in the picture is a 02 Grand Prix GT... black. Great car and have had zero problems with it. 3.8L v6 w/ dual exhaust making 200 HP and 230ish lbs of torque. Exhaust sounds sweet. 41,000 miles. Pretty fast car... with sunroof and leather. Not driven much... usually stays in the garage.

We had an 01 black impala... 3.4L v6 but sold that. That was an ok car... and it was fun to sit on corners or driveways pretending to be a cop. People always tapped their brakes when driving by. Downtown when people saw us they would go hide in the alleys. It was great. lol. Didn't need it... and we got an offer out of no where for it. I guess the guy who bought it noticed it just sat in the drive way... since it collected leafs from fall and never had the snow brushed off it. Asked 10,000 for it. Sold it for 11,000

the tsx is a nice car, but i think car magazines gave it WAY to much hype.. saying it was better than the 3 series.. first thing i thought to myself was BULL****..

so i drove one.. and its no where near what a bmw drives like.. its a nice car, but you just can't compare it to the 3 series.. and its not that fast either..

Well, if Acura pays the magazine more than BMW and I were a writer, I'd praise the Acura too.

I drive a 2001 Nissan Sentra GXE. I am extremely happy for this is my first car I just got it yesterday. Got it used at a tidbit over 67,000 miles. The specs really aren't impressive at all though... 126hp/129ft.lbs of torque, 0-60 @ 9 secs. I'm gonna buy many different mods for it in the future. :D

    • It's actually shocking how logs filling disks has been a constant issue going back for decades, yet we see very little improvement over the years. Even in the server world, its actually shockingly common for a server to either go totally down, or have a critical alert raised due to logs filling disks.
    • YouTube has finally brought back its DMs feature, but only in these countries by David Uzondu Late last year, YouTube started testing a "new" way to share videos directly with friends, without having to leave the app. Now, the video giant has announced that is now rolling out a revamped direct messaging inbox, which lets you share videos, Shorts, and live streams and have conversations about them, directly on YouTube. The platform limits this feature to 18+ users who are signed in to a verified channel and use the latest mobile app version. Direct messaging on YouTube first became a thing back in 2017 inside the mobile app (later renamed to "Messages"), where users could chat one-on-one and share clips directly, but all that came to an end on September 18, 2019, when Google decided to shut it down after giving users a month to download a .zip file archive of their past chats. No one really knows why YouTube killed the feature, but users were encouraged to migrate to the public Comments section, on Community tab posts, and via YouTube Stories. The previous incarnation suffered from moderation challenges, prompting Google to implement stricter safety guidelines and age verifications for this new iteration. Here's a list of the countries where the re-launched feature is currently available, though note that Brand Accounts do not have access to it, at least for now: Countries American Samoa Austria Belgium Brazil Bulgaria Croatia Cyprus Czech Republic Denmark Estonia Finland France Germany Greece Guam Hungary Iceland Ireland Italy Latvia Liechtenstein Lithuania Luxembourg Malta Netherlands Northern Mariana Islands Norway Poland Portugal Puerto Rico Romania Singapore Slovakia Slovenia Spain Sweden Switzerland U.S. Virgin Islands United Kingdom United States Before you can use the feature, you first have to send an invite link to your contact. Invite links expire exactly seven days after you create them. If the person on the other end accepts the invite, you can exchange videos directly and text back and forth inside the app. To delete a message, just long-press on the message and tap unsend to remove it for both users. You can also delete entire conversations by long-pressing the thread and selecting delete, but the other person will continue to see the chat history on their end. To make sure everything remains safe, YouTube monitors these messages to ensure they follow Community Guidelines.
    • The problem of course is simply that government does not always know best. My point is that agency is taken away from the EU consumer in these cases. I'm sorry, but I do not believe that governments (politicians) are inherently good, and "looking out for me." Primarily they look to themselves and their own personal desires first, foremost, and always. When the EU or the DOJ fines these companies, claiming to "represent the welfare of the consumer," how much of these billion-dollar judgments are handed to the consumers they claim to represent? Not even a dollar, as I've seen. Yet the EUC lawyers who are paid to sit around and dream up these suits make huge commissions on the fines the EUC adjudicates, which is an ironclad fact I hope everyone is aware of. It's also rank corruption, of course, but that's another topic. Last, when the EU inflicts these judgments, or the DOJ, take your pick, the costs are bundled right along in the cost of the goods and services these companies provide the consumers they are "looking out for." If you are someone who believes his government is his savior then you have my condolences. I think Apple is right here, because the whole scheme of consumer choice is that consumers pick and choose among the products companies offer. Microsoft Windows is more compatible with third party software and hardware than any desktop OS on Earth, which is my sole reason for choosing it. Just because the EUC forces companies do certain things it knows the companies do not want to do, "or else", has no bearing on consumer benefit. This Siri thing is almost idiotic it's so infantile. But this is what the EUC does when the EU in Brussels becomes cash-strapped and needs a big infusion of cash. Some people get upset by "big companies" but it's the opposite when governments dwarf the size and scope of these companies, which is so obvious it hurts.... I mean you can't honestly believe that forcing Apple to do things with Siri it has its own reasons to decline is something that "opens up" Apple, do you? Say it aint' so...
    • Looks like many years since the request was made, a directory tree view finally may be added. https://github.com/files-community/Files/pull/18537
    • Is it still super slow or has it improved on that area?
