What do you drive?

Recommended Posts

Bike wise, I have a 2011 Specialized Crosstrail Disc. Can't find an exact image, but looks like the pic below (except in black & red)

I want a road bike (carbon fiber would be awesome, but they're pricey!)

Definitely can't wait to go biking, need to do a tune up, and should be good for a leisurely 50 mile ride. I should bike to work everyday, but I don't.

It's been a while since I last posted my ride, things have changed, dramatically :D

I hear these things will hold value very well once they reach E30-E36 age. I intend to keep it in as close to stock condition as possible so hopefully that is indeed the case. Recent rolling road resulted in it producing almost exactly stock power (337.7BHP), not bad for a 2005 car!

Here';s a soundbite :D

I believe I saw one of those pics titled w/ something like "DAT ASS" :p Congrats though, the e46 is one of my favorite generations of the 3 series, specifically the E46 M3 CSL!

Lol that was earlier! Small world :p

The CSL is a beast, the dealer I bought my car off had a CSL, he dropped me off to the train station when I went to go see the car and put a deposit down. That carbon airbox is menacing to say the least but it made me realise that I couldn't have a CSL and seat 4 in comfort. There are no arm rests in the CSL, only carbon fibre door panels and the seats aren't as cosy as the normal M3 ones are!

It's an all out race car of course so that is to be expected. And their prices are crazy appreciating for sure.

Just thought I'd post a little update.  1999 Dodge Dakota, 3.9L V-6, 5 speed manual transmission.  216,000+ miles and still going strong.  Replaced the valve seals at 212,000 miles to get rid of a small problem with smoke on startup, but other than that the engine and transmission have been rock solid.  Use mine to get work done every day.  Hauled a couple hundred pounds worth of huge sheets of glass window material on my trailer with it the other day.  This evening I decided to go ahead and move my dog's tie-out stake to a different location.  I don't have one of those dinky little corkscrew looking stakes, anything bigger than a pomeranean can yank them up, I use a 4 foot piece of steel rebar that they use as roofing bolts in coal mines around here.

I drive a Toyota Corolla or Camry. Not sure. I don't use it often as I take the bus, carpool, or walk when possible. Even in one of America's more car-friendly cities.

Huh? Wha???

How can you not know what your car is? It's your car!!!?

Well, if someone remembers the post where I was boasting about my next car being an Audi S6... not gonna happen...

What did happen was I ran across a 2011 BMW 550i with the 6 speed manual.  So I picked that up.  It's "only" 400hp (the audi is 435) but *manual transmission*.

I'm happy. :D

No pictures yet since I just got it yesterday.

Whoa, congrats! I didn't even know they came in manual.

I'm deciding if I should get another car. I recently sold my F30, and I kinda miss something with power. I'm going to a Ford event this weekend and I get to drive the FoST, FiST, and Mustang GT, so that should be fun. But, I'm not feeling Ford interiors. Side bar, what the hell is it with American manufacturers and their inability to produce a decent interior? The Corvette is the only car that I will add to this exception, but everything else looks like absolute garbage. I might just end up a slightly used e550 coupe or C63 AMG.

Thanks!  It was actually kinda funny.  I used to be in the business so a friend who's a used car manager sent me a text with a picture of an F10 telling me I have to come see it.  So I did.  He said "You're the only idiot in South Florida that would want a luxury BMW with a manual so I'm either selling it to you or wholesaling it."  I couldn't resist the challenge. :)  Got it for a steal, too.

That's awesome! "400 HP" and a manual should be plenty for daily driving. If memory serves me correctly, BMW underrates that engine (typical BMW/Mercedes fashion), so you should be putting out about 370-385 WHP, so around 425-440 HP

Man, I like those new Mustangs...

Well, just got back from 2 weeks in Europe and took some crappy pictures.  Maybe this weekend I can get some better ones.

First thing is to get some decent wheels.

I'm kinda liking these:

Thanks. I totally forgot I posted that here. I will have to clean my car and get some decent pictures. 550i is very nice! I like the wheels on the other car. Are they the M5 wheels? They look similar.

These are the standard M5 wheels

I believe they might be M6 wheels.  I like them because they are a little bit different than the M5 wheels.

Edit:  Yup, they're M6 wheels.  I like the difference.

    • Alpine Linux 3.24 released with support for COSMIC Desktop and other improvements by David Uzondu Alpine Linux 3.24 has been released with updated system packages, including Linux kernel 6.18 and Rust 1.96. The team also added IPv6 support to the system installer, and they introduced automatic serial console configuration for headless setups. System76's COSMIC desktop environment is now available in the community repo. System76 originally started building this DE because its developers found GNOME to be pretty limited. Plus, it did not help that with virtually every GNOME update, the changes broke System76's custom desktop extensions. As for system packages, the Alpine team moved GTK+ 3.0 from the main repository to the community repository due to its legacy status. py3-setuptools has been upgraded to version 82.0.0, while the old pkg_resources module has been completely dropped. The team also removed outdated packages that still relied on py3-six and GTK+ 2.0. In addition to that, libsoup 2 has been removed because the library was affected by multiple security vulnerabilities. If you're a GRUB user, the Alpine Team said that you must manually run the grub-install command with your specific device or EFI options right after upgrading your system, otherwise, your computer may fail to boot properly with the newly updated GRUB 2.14 bootloader. New installations of Alpine Linux now offer an optional path to a /usr-merged directory layout if you set the BOOTSTRAP_USR_MERGED environment variable to 1 before you execute the setup-disk command. If you already run an older installation, you can migrate manually by installing the merge-usr package and executing its binary as the root user. The team recommends this layout to align Alpine with modern Linux standards, though you should verify your custom scripts before making the switch. Alpine Linux is a pretty tiny (~5MB) Linux distro built around musl libc, BusyBox, and OpenRC. It's been around since 2005, comes with its own package manager called Alpine Package Keeper (APK), and is widely used in modern cloud computing and software deployment.
