Buying a Used Car which one?

If you're going to get a 1996 Supra, most models made in that year are Automatics unless the owner changed it to manual, if you don't mind Automatics then go for it. If you want a 1996 Supra RZ, you won't be able to find anyone selling it for $30 000 or less. If you're after a non turbo model you can easily find it for less than $30 000. Mind you, I've got friends who own non turbo Supras and they are no fun. lol Another note, I'm a big Supra fan, but I'm not trying to be bias LOL

I assume you have a S14 (or S13) since you are considering a S15. They aren't too bad, you'll be getting your typical SR20DET motor, so unless you wanna purchase another car with the same motor with slight changes to some parts in the motor then go for it. If you want something different, don't get another SR20 lol

Now, the Skyline R34 GT-T, NEO inline 6 2.5L turbo engine. Apparently the NEO engine is of different techology compared to the RB. There still aren't that many of them running around here in Australia, but numbers are increasing. I haven't been in a R34 yet, possibly another neowin member can help you out with the feel and joy of driving one lol

WRX STi was the first WRX (in fact, the first Subaru) that I've been in to be honest. It's a good car I thought at first, until I was in a normal WRX and that totally disappointed me. The WRX was shocking compared to the STi, but then again you pay about $10 000 - $15 000 more if you're to buy it brand new. A major point in the WRX ( and subarus) is the fact that it's AWD, it handles smooth and solid.

I, personally, am not a Holden fan, typically because some Holden drivers screw up Holden's reputation to a lot of people. But that's not important. V8, killer petrol eater. Why not go for a Ford XR-6 Turbo MK II, you'll be suprised. I can't really say much about Holden Commodoores, they seem all the same to me lol

Well, tell me what you're after and how you drive, then I can probably help you cut down more. I know I'll also get flamed for dissing Holdens lol

Thanks yanman that really helpful :)

Yeah i drive S13 and i loved every bit of it. Its been a great car too me and a complete joy to drive. Time is come to get something newer thats why i'm shying away from the lovely supras because they are still older cars hitting 1996 or 95, same age as my 2hungy.

But i'm with you i like supras especially the TT wouldnt bother with a NA. Though i've heard about some problems with supras? Any problems sourcing parts?

I realise the new S15 has the same SR20DET motor but for a 4cyl engine it's still one of the best. Sucks about the environmental restrictions that were put in place reducing the power of it but a few mods can fix that.

A GT-T R34 would be syperb i think. Though Skylines are common as mud. WOuldnt mind hearing from someone with a R34 whos been in a R33. Also outline the differences between the models would be cool.

What i'm after is a nice car neat slick and still with nuts to it. I'm not going to spend $$$$ modding the thing just some little usual mods like exhaust boost etc. Maybe some exterior and interior adjustments but nothing big.

It has to be a manual not into auto's at all. I drive mostly round the perth metro area mainly in the city everyday of the week and around town. How i drive, well i dont race them but i like a car that throws you into your seat and grips corners something that you can throw around. Hence why i'm not to interested in Skippy cars.

Evos aren't bad. I used to not really like them because of the fact that so many people have riced up Lancers and drive it around like it's an Evo. If you're deciding between an Evo or a WRX, I'd personally go for the rarer type in your area. Some fanboys will say "Go get an Evo, they're faster than WRX" or vice versa, but it just really depends on how good of a driver you are as well.

What problems have you heard about Supra? The only flaw that is know of is the turbo lag, but it can be fixed. The 2JZ is a very strong and reliable engine, same goes with most Toyota engines.

Yeah, Australia is too tight. All these restrictions and sh*t, annoying. In Victoria we can't have rims more than 2 inches bigger than factory rims. Can't have air filters. Can't have BOVs. Can't have blue or red neons. Can't have bonnet scoopes unless it's factory. Can't have tyres wider than factory tyres. How annoying.

Doesn't the S13 have a lot of understeering? If you want to go fast and grip around the corners, I'm pretty sure any of those cars are capable after you've driven the S13 like that lol.

    • I disagree; they come off very "bitchy" and "whiny". Make a great product and combine that with a great price (free) and people will come over to your side. Or build it and they will come as they say. Constantly trying to get attention by complaining all the time, will turn people off to your product.
    • It use to be a nightmare, with LibreOffice supporting a newer draft ODF standard by default, and Microsoft Office supporting the older non-draft standard. Now that they both support the same version of ODF, they should be interoperable.

    • Hi. As the title suggests, I can't access the forum on my phone. I'm using Edge on Android and when I try to navigate to the forum I get a "we value your privacy" popup and none of the buttons are clickable. It effectively stonewalls me from reading any forum content.
    • Honestly you're not wrong about AdGuard. Neowin frequently has lifetime license discounts for them and that's how I got my cheap family license a few years ago to run it on all my devices.
