NFiles Beta

URL: http://nfiles.nwserver.net

What is it?

NFiles is a file/image hosting solution for Neowin members to share their files and images that normally would not fit here on Neowin.

In addition to being file storage, NFiles also collects how many times your file has been downloaded and allows you to preview any image you currently have stored on your account.

What can I do?

Right now you can use our Quick Upload feature to upload any file or image to your own personal account. FTP Upload is an option that will be coming later in the beta.

What kind of files can I upload?

You may upload any of the following types: jpg, gif, png, zip, exe, rar

Is there any limit to the file size I can upload?

Yes, file uploads are capped at 5 megabytes. When the FTP Upload code is complete, you may use that for any file over 5 megabytes.

Oooh, it's so pretty! Who designed the layout?

That would be Neowin's very own member Liquid.

Weeee, this is fun! How much can I upload?

The beta is currently limted to 20 megabyte accounts. This may be increased at a future time, depending on availability of more space and bandwidth.

I'm in the File Manager and I only want to see one type of file. What do I do?

NFiles has a built in file filtering system for when you want to only see a certain file type. To filter by file type, just click the little file icon to the left of a file name and all files that are of the same type will be shown, with the rest of them vanishing. To return to normal view, just click the "Unset" link at the information box above your file list.

Oh no, a bug! What do I do?

You may submit a bug report from the NFiles homepage. If you find a bug, please submit any information about it. Bugs are bad. They must be stepped on.

I noticed someone sharing an illegal file?!

If you notice a member sharing any type of illegal file, please visit the NFiles homepage and select the "Report An Illegal File" link. Paste the link into the textbox and send it to us. The file will be reviewed and any needed action will be taken.

I have another question/concern!

This is the thread for that. I will post all development information in the development thread, while happy to answer any non-development questions about NFiles in here.

Enjoy!

Testing :

You are not allowed to use that image extension on this board. A valid format is: http://www.domain.com/picture.gif, an invalid format is: http://www.domain.com/picture.one.gif

I uploaded a jpeg and it was converted into an unsupported format :D (gif)

Uh, that's a Neowin thing, not NFiles.

Yeah, in this thread.  if you look at the properties, you'll see it was converted to a .gif.

Plus, i didn't need to log in or create an account (dunno if that's how it is meant to be.)

1. Image thing is a Neowin IMG issue. I'll figure out a way to work around it

2. That's how login works.

EDIT

Cant use it.

The link comes out as

http://nfiles.nwserver.net/?i=1255238144
