MSN Messenger 7 at high Memory Usage?

Question

Goodafternoon everyone,

I have got MSN Messenger 7 BETA version 0425 inwhich i have used the Unniversal Messenger 7 Patch to remove all ads and buttons and things that i dont need, and Speedy MSN 2 beta 3 to make it more compact and less images to load and yet still my msn messenger 7 BETA is 23mb's in Memory Usage on idle (no messenger windows or chats). Is this normal? What is everyone elses memory usage for MSN 7?

There is also another query when i am using a webcam, it increases my CPU to about 50% usage.. even up to 90% when i have two Webcam users. Is this normal too? I have an Athlon XP 1600+ (1.4Ghz)

I am using Windows XP Professional with 1GB SD RAM and ATI Radeon 9600 Pro

Can anyone help me out and let me know if this is normal for Messenger or is it some kind of issue with my pc that i need to resolve? I would be very greatful for all your help and time :).

Please dont advise me to use any 3rd Party Software

Alex

i go up to like 20meg and maybe 15 -25 % cpu when I have my webcam active and view my girlfriend's cam at the same time...

but these ad remover add-ins you speak of sound interesting ... :)

try uninstalling and reinstalling.

if no joy, relax, ITS BETA :)

What's your current memory usage on your 1 gigabyte system? I bet it's not that full, so what's the big deal about 20 some megs? MSN Messenger obviously has some use for that memory, even though you may not know what it is.

Maybe the patches that removes ads and tabs are adding a memory leak.

Hex-editing a file is stupid, because you really have no idea what you're changing. You could be changing an instruction code that tells the CPU to corrupt your partition table, or you could have the app call some function on invalid data, resulting in a blue screen, or you could indeed modify a class destructor so that objects are not completely destroyed, resulting in memory leaks. The fact is, hex-editing is not a good idea, and no number of advertisements or other annoyances would get me to do that. Switch software if you don't like it.

    • draw.io Desktop 30.2.6 by Razvan Serea draw.io desktop is a downloadable security-first diagramming application that runs on Windows, MacOS and Linux. Creating diagrams in the desktop app doesn’t need an internet connection. This is useful when you are disconnected or when you must create diagrams in a highly secure environment, where data protection is of the utmost importance. When you use the draw.io desktop app, your diagrams will be stored on your local device. Because this is a stand-alone application, also designed to run offline, there are no interfaces to cloud storage platforms available. Of course, you can still store your diagrams in folders that are synchronised to your cloud storage if you wish. Easy-to-use diagram editor The draw.io apps work just like the office and drawing tools you are used to using. Drag and drop shapes from the shape libraries and drag to draw connectors between them. Drag connectors to add waypoints and set a precise shape and position, or let them reroute automatically. Double click and start typing to add a label to anything. Create tables and swimlane flows with a familiar tool. Style shapes and connectors with customisable palettes, sketch options, fonts and text formatting tools. Search for shapes, including in open-source icon libraries. Use our vast libraries of shapes and templates, organised into logical categories, to create a range of diagrams and infographics. Generate diagrams from text descriptions using our smart templates.
