kinetix63 Veteran Posted January 23, 2005 Veteran Share Posted January 23, 2005 There is software out there that allows for vocals to be removed from software, however in experience I have found them to be quite poor, and always damages the quality of the backing music, and always leaves some vocals in. +Nik Louch Subscriber² Posted January 28, 2005 Subscriber² Share Posted January 28, 2005 OK, look, the musical parts are not stored separately on CD/MP3/Whatever (unless you have the master tracks). I often picture it like layers in Photoshop, but on the final print, it's all one layer. However, there are ways of finding specific "parts" of the music. Drums, pianos, guitars are often spread around the whole stereo range of the music, or off to one side. The lead vocals are often placed directly in the stereo middle, so, software can remove this and "stretch" the rest of the sound to fit. It usually works very poorly, as a lot of other sound is lost too, or because not enough of the vocal is lost. My stereo has this function also. I have found it works amazingly well with "Michael Jackson - Dangerous Album - Black Or White". hardy
i found a good manual way is to get a complex equaliser so u can cut out the frequencies of the voice, usually above midband i did this on my home stereo system and if u got it right, it would work a treat Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/275193-anyone-knws-how-to-mute-the-singers-voice-for-a-c/#findComment-585373084 Share on other sites

+Nik Louch Subscriber² Posted January 28, 2005 Subscriber² Share Posted January 28, 2005 An equalizer will need a lot of refining for each individual song, and if the singer is bassy (like Barry White) you will lose a lot of the bass area (for example). Xtreme $niper
My sound card has this option but as said before, Chorus vocals are not removed, and bass quality drops with overall quality.
