RightWing
Why not just restore your system to a date before your relative screwed with it? That way you don't take a chance of screwing anything else up?

topjolly
Like I said if it starts up ok in 'safemode' that's telling you something, maybe you have a program that boots at startup or a program service that's disagreeing with your system. Maybe a driver has got corrupt it does happen, it's happened to me before - pc's ok one day the next its like "wtf's" up. It's a process of elimination, hunt the bugger down it is time consuming but the only other alternative is to backup important data and do a fresh install (borrow someone's cd-rom drive if yours is messed up). Goodluck
