jesus himself
Just got a great deal on this monitor from dell.com- $420 shippped (code: XC5VNQ5SCL7PVQ) (sorry for the sucky pix) This is just a great all around monitor. Large 19inch viewable screen and very adjustable in any direction. The 4 USB 2.0 ports on the side are a godsend if you've used usb extension cords for mice and other peripherals. Not the greatest gaming monitor @ 20ms but still plays HL2, CS:S, Far Cry, and Doom 3 (everything that I've tested) nicely. bottom line: I'd definately reccomend getting it if you're looking for a large LCD for a pretty good price. :) Edited January 20, 2008 by jesus himself

artis`
I have this monitor for about one month already and haven't had any problems with it. It has high contrast ratio (800:1) - recommend to anyone.
mrogers
I have two 1901fp's, and haven't had any problems with them. Fantastic, sharp picture. Not sure what's different about the 1905, they look physically identical; anyway, I'll add my vote for a great monitor!
SonComet
The 1901fp is based on the inferior panel that is also found in the samsung 191t/192t. The dell 1905fp is based on the same panel that can be found in the samsung 193p. It has better contrast, brightness, response time, and colors. The only difference from the 193p and the 1905fp is that the 1905fp boosts the brightness of the backlight at the slight sacrifice of black levels, and the build quality and design aren't quite as nice. However, it is significantly cheaper and that can go a long way for a lot of people.
mrogers
OK, that's great that they made a better panel for the 1905fp but I wouldn't call the 1901fp or the 191T inferior overall. I work around a lot of LCD displays and while not top of the line, the 1901s are damn nice. They may not have the response times of the newer panels, but I play games and watch movies a lot and I can't see any ghosting. And you're right, with how cheap the Dells are and how their quality keeps improving, it's hard to go wrong!
SonComet
If something is worse then it is inferior. So if its not better or even the same then how can it not be inferior? Also, people coming from crts should realize that they can't really trust lcd owners that claim to see no blurring. The blurring on the 191t was extremely obvious to me. Its much less of an issue on my 193p and my brothers 2001fp, but its still there. I have a friend who can't see any blurring on a 35ms, but it blurs to the point of making me sick. So I guess its just what your used to... On that point when I first got my 172t (25ms) the blurring was unbearable, but over time I got used to it and didn't really notice it anymore. It wasn't until I got my 193p and my brother got his 2001fp that I realized how bad the blurring was. And if I were to use a 16ms or below tn-film panel (which is faster than s-ips and pva) I would realize how bad the current lcds I use are as far as blurring goes.
