I don't know about the cards - I have a nVidia GeForce FX 5200, and it renders these shadows damn fast, no performance loss at all (stability loss and font problems :cry:). I mean that opening new windows etc. is faster. I guess it has something to do with render accel. P.S. Do you use any custom fonts?
