Silicon Insider: R.I.P. Microsoft?

LOL.. This isn't the first time impending rumours of Microsoft's doom have surfaced. Remember back in the Windows 95 days when Netscape was on the rise, Microsoft was a very-late entrant into the Internet arena and Sun was touting network computing as the paradigm of the future? They all said Microsoft was going to flop.. but it re-invented itself and caught up.

Microsoft isn't a dumb company - they're always on the move, and they've bounced back many times, and will do so again.

If you ask me, I do agree that Windows as a desktop operating system has a rather bleak future in front of it. But as for Microsoft's other core product - Office, to those who say that OpenOffice is a more than adequate replacement, quite obviously, you've never fully learnt the power of Office.

open office is just fine for me and it uses open standards, something that ms office is seriously missing.

OOo v2 is going to kick ass. MS Office, for the home user, has pretty much hit a brick wall in terms of adding new features. there arent any more ffeatures to add. not ones that warrant spending 130 bucks on a new version anyway...
