Stop 0x0000007A or KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR

Recommended Posts

I got this Stop 0x0000007A or KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR that is talked about here - http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documen...md_stp_fvlq.asp

Heres the blue screen I get -

KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR

Check and make sure hardware is propertly installed.. etc...

*** STOP: 0x0000007A (0xC03DEAC8,0xC000000E,0xF7AB243A,0X1f989860)

*** PCIIDEX.SYS - Address F7AB243A base at F7AAE00 Datestamp 41107b4c

Beginning physical dump of memory

Unfortunately I have no idea what that windows website is talking about..

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Blue Screen of Death on XP ?

Hmm, okay, here's how you should proceed :

1. Ignore the remarks, comments and other blah blah on the BSD screen such as KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR or STOP: 0x0000007A bla bla. Even experienced MSVP don't understand a thing from them. DrWatson and its logs and dumps are useless, too. Waaaaste of time, just move on.

2. It's very unlikely that this is a driver issue but still it can cause BSDs. So update all your drivers. It's the cheapest/easiest thing to do. Also don't forget to update the BIOS.

3. Still getting a BSD? Well, this looks like a hardware malfunction to me. Okay. Get memtest86 and check your memory for errors. Very common reason for BSDs.

4. Insert the memory module(s) into different slots, try different but possible combinations. Happened to me in my darn motherboard once.

5. Try a different video card. Your old one, which I hope you haven't sold on ebay, should do fine. Watch AGP requirements of your mobo before inserting it in.

6. Inspect your motherboard for loose connections, cracks and shortcircuits.

7. Enter the BIOS and check if there's any overheating of the CPU. Make sure the voltage ratings, -5 , +5, +12 etc are okay, too.
