gnome on redhat or fedora... ortherwise, no gnome.. I tried to use gnome on Suse and it wasn't too fun.. It seems like Redhat/Fedora was built for gnome and optimized gnome a little, and so its perfect..

However, KDE is just annyoing.. too much flash, too much craziness, its not clean and happy and productive.

but anything is better than windows. :)

flux is great, but it seems to be missing some things that i need. Gnome works great, expecially on a 1024x768 machine.  But hey im biased, ive always like gnomes.

Couldn't agree more

I finally got gnome to work on slack :)

I didn't vote, as imho it's a tie:

Gnome looks nicer, is much more organized, has nifty things like dbus-support etc, but it's a bit unstable (at least for me, i don't know why)

KDE is very consistent and has a lot of features and everything is nicely integrated, but it isn't very organized (program- and menu-wise).

I am in love with the K.

I used to be gnome powered for a while, but since I switched 100% to Linux last year for I no longer had Windows requirements, I have been using KDE. I think it is the most complete and well integrated solution available. It provides every single little thing I coud think of, and is well integrated.

And the second you add gtk-qt, everything looks unified.

KDE 3.4 is amazing and I can't wait for Kubuntu to work better so I can ditch Gnome. Gnome is nice and clean, but KDE gives me all the features I want.

That's exactly why I don't like KDE too much :p I get lost in the menus and the control panel :p But I like how 3.4 looks. I don't think its really faster, but the look n feel helps a lot :p (For example, my windows is slow crap and it can take ages for an app. to run... but I still think that windows 'feels' faster than gnome).

In ubuntu (hoary) Firefox looks ugly using KDE... does anybody know how to change this?

yes , install some theme to firefox

like this for example > http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=11442    :p

Nice theme :p However, I found out that I have to run "gnome-settings-daemon", that way Gtk apps. will apply gnome settings and won't look bad :p I don't know why I have to do this, from Gnome, kde apps look OK (except some like skype or the menu in opera)

    • VidCoder 12.20 by Razvan Serea VidCoder is a DVD/Blu-ray ripping and video transcoding application for Windows. It uses HandBrake as its encoding engine. Calling directly into the HandBrake library gives it a more rich UI than the official HandBrake Windows GUI. VidCoder can rip DVDs but does not defeat the CSS encryption found in most commercial DVDs. You’ll need the NET 8 Desktop Runtime. If you don’t have it, VidCoder will prompt you to download and install it. The Portable version is self-contained and does not require any .NET Runtime to be installed. You do not need to install HandBrake for VidCoder to work. Feature list: Multi-threaded MP4, MKV containers Completely integrated encoding pipeline: everything is in one process and no huge intermediate temporary files H.264, H.265, MPEG-4, MPEG-2, VP8, Theora video Hardware-accelerated encoding with AMD VCE, Nvidia NVENC and Intel QuickSync AAC, MP3, Vorbis, AC3, FLAC audio encoding and AAC/AC3/MP3/DTS/DTS-HD passthrough Target bitrate, size or quality for video 2-pass encoding Decomb, detelecine, deinterlace, rotate, reflect, chroma smooth, colorspace filters Powerful batch encoding with simultaneous encodes Customizable Pickers to automatically pick audio and subtitle tracks, destination, titles and more Instant source previews Creates small encoded preview clips Pause, resume encoding VidCoder 12.20 changes: Updated HandBrake core to 1.11.2. • Too soon, I'm still not over this death!
    • Normally, I admit when a title is clickbait (unfortunately, it's become somewhat necessary to compete against AI-dominated news sections today), but in this case, all supported versions is implied and doesn't need to be spelled out in the title. Of course, I'm covering a Patch Tuesday update bug that is only available to supported Windows SKUs. All our coverage relates to supported Windows software and SKUs only unless we expressly state that it's "unsupported", "unofficial", or "third-party". I'm sorry, but supported/official SKUs don't need to be spelled out as such in every Neowin headline.
