[help request] getting around a router

Question

ethief

i am a networking novice and i was hoping someone could get me through this problem. i just installed my first wireless router (i just got a laptop), and now i cannot get any of my remote access programs to work (radmin, vnc, or remote desktop). i am trying figure out the work around to get out or into another computer from my two systems that are behind the router. i opened up the ports that i was trying to use, and i am trying to connect to the networked ips through the routers ip to no avail. i have checked all of the windows firewall settings and the routers setting and am still at square one.

any insight would be greatly appreciated

thanks in advance

Disable any internal software firewalls and make sure the correct port is forwarded to the machine you which to connect to from the outside.
